Peja is one of my favorite players in the league. The other day someone mentioned that he is kind of like a prime Sean Elliot. For a second i thought about this...and its not a bad comparison. Both play SF, both can score 20ppg+, both are about 6'8-6-9, both can play solid D, penetrate and hit deadly clutch outside shots. Obsviously Elliot did not have a shot like Peja early in his career, but Elliot later on became clutch and hit the 3pter with great accuracy. And early in Peja's career he could not drive like a Sean Elliot, who was very quick and a great penetrator and ball handler for a SF. Peja is just learning these things, like Elliot learned to become a better shooter. I think at the same stages in their career both were (in pejas case is) trying to get better at the opposite skill (Peja driving and handling and D, Elliot in shooting when he was younger) What do you guys think of this comparison, how would you comparre them. It seems Peja will surpase Elliot, but I always thought of Elliot of having a 20ppg+ career on average if he were not plagued by injuries, and health problems.. He would of been like a Peja? Dont ya think?
Sounds about right. In Elliott's earlier years(Seasons 2-6) he averaged 16.6 ppg, 4.6 rpg, and 3.2 apg He was selected to a couple all-star teams as well. If it hadn't been for injuries he would still be playing today.
Not sure if they're similar players. Elliott was a much better defender and is more athletic. While Peja is much more aggresive offensively than Elliott.
