    Tony Stewart involved in dirt track incident, police reportedly investigating

    Police are reportedly investigating an incident at a dirt-track race in upstate New York on Saturday night involving Tony Stewart and Kevin Ward.

    A dirt-track racing event at Canandaigua Motorsports Park in upstate New York was suspended on Saturday night after an incident reportedly involving Tony Stewart and Kevin Ward. The Ontario County Sheriffs Department is reportedly investigating the incident, per Jim Utter of the Charlotte Observer.

    Ward crashed during Saturday night's featured Empire Super Sprints race, reportedly involving Stewart. What happened next is in question, but multiple social media reports have numerous police cars and ambulances arriving on scene, and Ward is potentially seriously injured.

    "Tonight's racing events were suspended due to an accident. Please hold off on any speculation until we have further information to share," was the statement released by the Canandaigua Motorsports Park Facebook page.

    Stewart is scheduled to race on Sunday in the 29th annual Cheez-It 355 at The Glen in nearby Watkins Glen, starting in 13th position.

    We will have more information on this incident as it develops.

    Now reports are saying he didn't try to hit him he tried to avoid hitting him. The guy apparently got out of his car and ran thru several cars still circling the track to try to get to Stewart. Basically one report I read said it was like he was walking across a freeway. Still way too early to determine the reality of it. I'm also hearing that the guy died.

    What in the hell was the man doing running out in front of the cars putting his hands out instead of sitting his ass in the car or on the side of the track until help came?? Jeez it's terrible he got hit, but he was not being smart and could have easily avoided all of that.

    Passed away in the hospital...

    To me it looks like he went too far on to the track and Stewart didn't have room to swerve or time to slow down.

    Just simply awful, what a nightmare.

    Threw away his life by letting his anger and stupidity get the best of him, and permanently scarred Stewarts life.
