I was simply referring to that specific post of his where he actually mentioned "looks" and the old stereotype of "those people" controlling the media.

It was a very questionable post.

As far as the whole Israel-Palestine debate, I think there are good arguments on both sides, and criticizing or supporting one side doesn't make you bigoted.

Hamas spokesperson: We deported foreign journalists for filming missile launches

MEMRI report: Hamas claims journalists who filmed missile launching sites “were collaborating with the occupation.”

Hamas spokesperson Isra Al-Mudallal, said in a TV interview on Friday that journalists who filmed “places from where missiles were launched” were forced by security personnel to stop or leave the Gaza Strip.

Poor Israelis. They kill 1500 civilians as they periodically do. The Press reports it more this time. The world is getting tired of their rationale despite a new wrinkle of the "terror tunnels" or whatever their propaganda guys come up with to maximize the scariness of it.

Attack the press to keep the usual suspects blissfully ignorant.

To drive the locals (and the usual suspects abroad) wild they plant a story that is more or less the plans were to tunnel up into a kindergarten and Hamas (mutants) would surface to massacre the kindergartener's. OMG!!

    Laughable.

Anybody watch the movie "Wag the Dog" lately?

See the old Iraqis taking Kuwaiti babies off of ventilator caper.

You are right. It has to do with the Israeli manipulation of the press.

    No, but let's boycott, Israel.

You've got Netanyahu and those level of Jews who equate Zionism and Israel with Judaism.
These Jewish marchers were part of a long and honourable tradition. Many prominent Jewish figures over the past century -- from Albert Einstein to holocaust survivor Primo Levi -- have opposed the idea of an ethnically exclusive Israeli state.

    Sigmund Freud
    Sigmund Freud:
“I concede with sorrow that the baseless fanaticism of our people is in part to be blamed for the awakening of Arab distrust. I can raise no sympathy at all for the misdirected piety which transforms a piece of a Herodian wall into a national relic, thereby offending the feelings of the natives.”

    Albert Einstein

    Albert Einstein:
“The (Israeli) state idea is not according to my heart. I cannot understand why it is needed. It is connected with many difficulties and a narrow-mindedness. I believe it is bad.”

    Erich Fromm,
    social psychologist:
“The claim of the Jews to the Land of Israel cannot be a realistic political claim. If all nations would suddenly claim territories in which their forefathers lived two thousand years ago, this world would be a madhouse.”

    Primo Levi

Primo Levi, writer and Auschwitz survivor:
"Everyone has their Jews. For the Israelis they are the Palestinians."

Marek Edelman, last surviving leader of the 1943 Warsaw uprising
    :
Edelman wrote a letter in support of the Palestine resistance, comparing them to ZOB, the Jewish fighters in Warsaw. He opened with, "Commanders of the Palestine military, paramilitary and partisan operations - to all the soldiers of the Palestine fighting organisations.”

    Isaac Asimov

    Isaac Asimov, novelist:
“I find myself in the odd position of not being a Zionist ... I think it is wrong for anyone to feel that there is anything special about any one heritage of whatever kind. It is delightful to have the human heritage exist in a thousand varieties, for it makes for greater interest, but as soon as one variety is thought to be more important than another, the groundwork is laid for destroying them all.”

    Hannah Arendt

    Hannah Arendt, political scientist:
“The trouble is that Zionism has often thought and said that the evil of antisemitism was necessary for the good of the Jewish people. In the words of a well-known Zionist in a letter to me discussing the original Zionist argumentation: 'The antisemites want to get rid of the Jews, the Jewish State wants to receive them, a perfect match.' “

    I.F. Stone
    , US journalist:
“Israel is creating a kind of moral schizophrenia in world Jewry. In the outside world the welfare of Jewry depends on the maintenance of secular, non-racial, pluralistic societies. In Israel, Jewry finds itself defending a society in which mixed marriages cannot be legalized, in which the ideal is racial and exclusionist.”

    Noam Chomsky

    Noam Chomsky:
“In the Occupied Territories, what Israel is doing is much worse than apartheid. To call it apartheid is a gift to Israel, at least if by "apartheid" you mean South African-style apartheid. What’s happening in the Occupied Territories is much worse.”

Gabriel Kolko, one of the leading historians on modern warfare:
“The large majority of Israelis are not in the least Jewish in the cultural sense, are scarcely socialist in any sense, and daily life and the way people live is no different in Israel than it is in Chicago or Amsterdam. There is simply no rational reason that justifies the state’s creation.”

    Miriam Margolyes

    Miriam Margolyes, actor:
“The black South Africans asked for our support and now it's the Palestinians who are asking for our support. I hate what Israel is doing over there to the Palestinians. I think that boycotting is a very active and non-violent way of protesting."

    Uri Avnery, ex-Israeli army officer:
Avnery wrote that after an Israeli military victory, “What will be seared into the consciousness of the world will be the image of Israel as a blood-stained monster, ready at any moment to commit war crimes and not prepared to abide by any moral restraints.”

    Henry Siegman
Henry Siegman, Rabbi and director of the U.S./Middle East Project:
“Israel has crossed the threshold from ‘the only democracy in the Middle East’ to the only apartheid regime in the Western world.”

    Richard Cohen
    , US columnist:
“The greatest mistake Israel could make at the moment is to forget that Israel itself is a mistake … the idea of creating a nation of European Jews in an area of Arab Muslims (and some Christians) has produced a century of warfare and terrorism of the sort we are seeing now. Israel fights Hezbollah in the north and Hamas in the south, but its most formidable enemy is history itself.”

    Roseanne Barr

Roseanne Barr, US comedian, writer, director, presidential candidate:
“I am sick of Israel and I am sick of Zionists. They are propped up by evangelical Christians who cannot wait for the Arabs to kill them so that their genocidal war god whom they misname Jesus can come back."

    Rabbi Michael Lerner
    , editor of Tikkun Magazine:
“If a Jew today goes into any synagogue in the U.S. or around the world and says, 'I don’t believe in God or Torah and I don’t follow the commandments,' most will still welcome you in and urge you to become involved. But say, 'I don’t support the State of Israel,' and you are likely to be labeled a 'self-hating Jew' or anti-Semite, scorned and dismissed."

    Richard Falk,
the former UN special rapporteur on human rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territories:
Falk has called Israeli policies in the Occupied Territories “a crime against humanity.” Falk also has compared Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians to the Nazi treatment of the Jews. Falk has said, “I think the Palestinians stand out as the most victimized people in the world.”

    Simple questions Glynch:
    1. Do you believe that Hamas is violating the Geneva convention by deliberately firing missiles from civilian targets?

    2. Do you believe that they are intimidating the media to obtain favorable coverage?

I appreciate the tactic and or the desire to keep things simple. I would try the same if I had to defend a first strike attack that killed roughly 1500 civilians, many of them children.

First, what just happened in Gaza, Israel broke a cease fire that lasted roughly 19 mos by attacking, killing arresting bulldozing houses etc of Hamas and other freedom fighters and even peaceful resisters in the West Bank under the now recognized pretense of doing it because of three hitchhikers they knew were killed in the West Bank. After a couple of weeks of this action on the West Bank, Israel then fired sophisticated guided missiles into Gaza to kill more Hamas members. After several weeks of such one sided killing and abuse by Israel, Hamas started firing rockets.

    Now to your two points.

    1) Looks like Hamas probably did some of what the US, Israel and virtually any government does during war or conflict tries to intimidate or limit coverage or even plant false stories. Google: Iraq Kuwait incubator babies or Google "Jessica Lynch" to see false stories planted by the US. Not good, but not an international war crime on the scale of what like Israel just did in Gaza with their first strike attack.

    2) Hamas seems to be violating international law with its rockets. Likewise Israel does with its rockets and kills usually around a thousand to one more. The level of a crime is relevant in any moral or legal weighting.

As additional point, when assigning relative blame certainly the initiator of the "war" as some call this one sided bloodbath is certainly more to blame.

For example when the Serbs attacked Bosnia or Germany attacked France in WW II both sides, aggressors and defeders typically commit acts violating international law. Would you say that the French were more in the wrong than the Germans when in their defense they committed violations? Or even equal?

glynch: no. 1 Hamas supporter on this message board (some of the Islamists are clever enough to not show their support here as much - probably do so on boards of their own)

Hamas share the same death cult ideology as IS/Al Qaeda. They are all Islamists. It's unbelievable that people like glynch keep defending them.

If I was to construct a glynch post on this topic, these are the guidelines I'd use.

    1) Everything bad that happens is Israel's fault. This concept overrides any other considerations.

    2) The Palestinians are completely innocent in all matters. If they must respond violently, it is the Israelis' fault.

    3) The Israelis have no rightful claim on any lands in the middle east; all of their lands are illegitimately claimed and therefore subject to forceful repossession

    4) The Muslim Brotherhood is the only body with any right to rule Egypt

    5) Iran is a victim of US aggression, and their position must be respected, and concessions made

    6) Hamas is a more responsible advocate for Palestinian interests because... I dunno, they make better bombs?

glynch has always been one of the most delusional and extreme posters on this board. He actively supports multiple organizations designated as terrorist organizations by our government. It's quite clear that he has a strong antipathy towards Jews (and Christians, for that matter).

I find it amazing that anyone still gives his comment any worth.

Even if he owned everything published or broadcast in English (he doesn't) it wouldn't he "2/3 of global media."

He's also Anglican and Australian-America, and not, in fact, Jewish or Israeli.

Evidence growing that Hamas used residential areas

"By HAMZA HENDAWI and JOSEF FEDERMAN
    Associated Press
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) - Two weeks after the end of the Gaza war, there is growing evidence that Hamas militants used residential areas as cover for launching rockets at Israel, at least at times. Even Hamas now admits "mistakes" were made."
