The NFL and Ryan Seacrest go together like Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise.

Nonetheless, word on the street is, the "Idol" ringmaster will handle pre-game and halftime hosting duties of the Super Bowl on Fox next February. Because nothing says manly man like a guy with frosted highlights. Seacrest out!

No halftime act has been named yet, but Clay Aiken would fit the bill nicely, no?

Ugh, I hope they don't turn it into a AI winner run through

To be honest I could do without the entire half time extravaganza

On Super Bowl Sunday, the only thing I watch is the game itself.

This is yet another reason why. Maybe he can get Kelly Clarkson to flash one of her saggy-ass honkyboobs in a trailer-park wardrobe malfunction!

As long as Seacrest doesn't sing, I don't really care.

just turn the wholoe thing into an Idol event:

the judges will be the announcers and criutiquing every play.

Randy: yo Tom Brady, you the man dawg, I ever told you that? you my dawg, the way you threw that pass, it started out kind of pitchy, but really straeightened itself out at the end

Paula: Tom (sniff) that was so great Tom (sniff sniff) you inspired me. Right now there's a little kid in the African desert who is watching the game and telling themself that they want to be you when they grow up. You are truly an inspiration Tom. Just amazing. P.S. I'm in room 201, I already left the room key in your pocket (hic!) I think...

Simon: Once again Randy and Pula, you have shown your utter ignorance. That was utter rubbish, one of the worst passes I have ever seen. My grandmother could throw a better pass than that. Drew Bledsoe should shoot himself for not being able to beat you out in New England. Just terrible, terrible!

all they need now is a pussycat dolls intro to the NFL and have it on ABC, then we can all suffer while the .0000001% of people in the USA that work for ABC enjoy it cause their boss likes it and they want a promotion.

Considering it's on Fox and that the Super Bowl hasn't been about football for some time now, this is in no way surprising.

BTW, has anyone noticed Fox's commercial about all the sports they're going to have this fall? It includes Daytona 500 (January), BCS games (January), & the Super Bowl (February).

Last time I checked, January and February are in the winter...and a whole different year.

I do...but more in the context of someone I'd like to kick in the balls with my foot.
