Having a hard time understanding how someone could call Arian Foster an average running back.

RB Arian Foster: Throughout the year, the Texans constantly gushed about Foster's vision, patience and the smoothness of his running style. These qualities can't be quantified by stats, which could be why PFF underrated Foster. He's at the point of his career when he's going to have the occasional soft-tissue injury, but when healthy, he's a dynamic playmaker. Foster ranked second in the league in yards per game (95.8) and sixth in total rushing yards (1,246), despite missing three games altogether and parts of three others due to injuries.

While I don't agree with them, at least it is based on a measurable metric:

"*Pro Football Focus uses its proprietary metrics to evaluate every player on every snap in every game. Each player's rating here is based solely off how his performance in 2014 compared to that of the peers at his position. For more methodology explanation, click here."

I understand that's what they're saying. I just find it hard to believe that he's just a ho-hum average back. That's not what I saw this last season.

All player graphics are black. Racist.

1, with elite QB play they could be a Super Bowl team.

    Closer than the Colts...

Other than Foster (is it because of injuries?), this looks like a fair representation of the Texans' current roster.

What's encouraging - and something they don't discuss - is that we may have at least 4 players already on the roster who could jump into the good category: in addition to Foster, Crick and Newton both seemingly took big steps forward this year, and if he's healthy, Cushing has certainly been in the good category previously (I assume).

Except the Colts have an elite QB so that's why they advanced farther and won the division.

According to this, they have a "good" QB.

having a hard time with espn. luck gets the colts to no. 20 on that list? smh.
if mallet gives us a cleveland like performance, all of the sudden the TEs start getting targeted, both andre and hopkins get targeted and not one or the other but both in the same game. =).

i'm loving our trenches, keep on building on that and mlb oh and some moose antler pills for cushing.

ESPN analysis is almost always subpar, especially when it comes to Houston sports.

Would be intrigued if Grantland or Yahoo! Sports did this piece.

Also, LOL at Foster being an "Average" NFL player. What a joke.

Sure. Peyton Manning and Joe Flacco are "average" QBs right along with Ryan Fitzpatrick and Mark Sanchez, right? These ratings are more skewed than Madden.

Agreed, he's not average, but maybe they think he improves to average by next season.

Just curious, if he wasn't even average, how was he basically one of the best Quarterbacks during the last weeks of the regular season?

The Jets are ahead of the Colts and Texans. And the Browns are ranked #7.

    LOL.
