Just starting a new thread since most of the news coming out pertains to season 4....

Neil Marshall Helms More "Game of Thrones"

"The Descent" and "Doomsday" filmmaker Neil Marshall is returning to Westeros.

Brought in at the last minute and given just one month to pull it off, it's a testament to Marshall's skill that his second season episode of "Blackwater" is still considered arguably the best hour of HBO's fantasy drama series "Game of Thrones" to air so far.

Now, Marshall is coming back for the show's fourth season to tackle the season finale. Unlike with "Blackwater," Marshall is getting plenty of time to pull off this episode. In fact, he's already in pre-production in London and Ireland on the episode which will shoot near the end of the year.

Pedro Pascal Joins "Game of Thrones"

Chilean actor Pedro Pascal ("The Good Wife," "Red Widow") has scored the key role of Prince Oberyn Martell in the upcoming fourth season of HBO's "Game of Thrones".

'Oberyn', aka. The Red Viper, will be one of the first characters in the series from the previously mentioned but so far unseen Dorne peninsula.

The character comes to King's Landing to obtain justice for his sister's murder at the hands of Ser Gregor Clegane (Ian Whyte) several years before during the overthrow the Mad King Aerys Targaryen.

He also becomes an important character in the events surrounding Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) during the season. Pascal marks the first major casting addition for the show's fourth season.

Wonder what that episode's going to have. I wonder about Jon Snow's story arc, but by episode 10, they should be well into material from Books 4 and 5. Interesting.

I hate that they changed actors for The Mountain that Rides. I don't really much care for the new guy, he just isn't that menacing...and he has some important stuff in this coming season. As weird as it sounds I almost wish they would recast that role again.

Gregor seems like a miscast and not even as menacing as Sandor. But I can't imagine anyone who would fit for how they described the overwhelming size of the Mountain that Rides. I just hope they get the casting right for everyone else. The Dorne people better be all supermodels. But GoT s4 talk and Dwight on the same day? Hells yeah

Really? I think the remainder of A Storm of Swords could easily take up 10 episodes.

He left to film the Hobbit, maybe he'll be back?

WinterIsComing posted an addendum that stated that the original report re: Neil Marshall wasn't entirely accurate. I think there's a good chance he'll actually be directing Episode 9, which would probably be a good spot for the sequence that's described/anticipated.

'Game of Thrones' casts 'Rome' actress for season 4 -- EXCLUSIVE

Another fan-favorite Rome veteran is joining HBO’s Game of Thrones.

Actress Indira Varma has been cast in season four. Varma will play Ellaria Sand on the show, the sexually adventurous paramour of a key new character, Prince Oberyn Martell “The Red Viper” (played by Pedro Pascal).

Since playing Niobe on HBO’s Rome, Varma has had roles on Fox’s Human Target along with UK dramas Silk and Hunted. Last year, the production added fellow Rome actor Ciarán Hinds.

Varma joins fellow season 4 new hires Pascal and Sherlock writer-actor Mark Gatiss. Coming off the show’s highest-rated and most-Emmy-nominated season yet, last week at Comic-Con, Thrones producers and cast told EW they expect season 4 will be the show’s best.

“We got more action, which is obviously more time consuming,” says showrunner David Benioff. “It’s a brutal shooting season ahead. But if we can make it through, yeah, I think it’s going to surpass season three. The last 3 episodes, there’s so many scenes we’ve been waiting for so long to do. And it just gets more and more fun to write for these characters. After three years of doing it, we have that much more comfort to make everything uncomfortable for them. We’re very excited for it.”

Indira was o.k in rome but she was no Atia aka polly walker, who would get it on while her servants cooled her off with fans.

'Game of Thrones': Hafthor Julius Bjornsson cast as The Mountain

    <a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/543/aevp.jpg/'><img src='http://img543.imageshack.us/img543/8949/aevp.jpg' border='0'/></a><br>

The Icelandic actor will replace Ian Whyte as Gregor Clegane in the HBO fantasy drama, according to Bjornsson himself.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>For all my fans! I am happy to tell you that I will be THE MOUNTAIN In season 4 In Game Of Thrones :)</p>&mdash; Hafþór J Björnsson (@ThorBjornsson_) <a href="https://twitter.com/ThorBjornsson_/statuses/374750844803354624">September 3, 2013</a></blockquote>

Also known as The Mountain, Clegane is the brother of Sandor (Rory McCann) in Game of Thrones.

He will be the third actor to take on the role, after Conan Stevens played him in the first two episodes of season one.

Whyte portrayed him in season two, but he was not seen on screen this year. He is expected to play a larger role in upcoming seasons.

Michiel Huisman will also be replacing Ed Skrein as Daario Naharis in the show's third season.

Game of Thrones returns to HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic in the UK in early 20
