I dont believe thats why they traded him.

Harden wanted the max, OKC is a small market team thats cheap and wanted to give him less and Harden never budged. Simple.

If I'm the GM or owner and you're telling me you're worried about someone as special as Harden partying too much, so much so that you want to shop him... I'm going to contemplate firing you.

So even if true, my ultimate feel is Scott Brooks wasn't a good enough coach to get through to him.

OKC (and media) always seem to blame that 2012 finals loss on James even though he was the 3-4 option. They blamed him like he was the star of the team but didn't want to pay him star money.

Is the story true? 100% I believe it. But that is not why he got traded.

Harden partied like an animal last year during the conference finals aka (Drake Houston Appreciation Weekend).

All the national commentators like to practice revisionist history on this (see Barkley's anti-stats rant where he goes "of COURSE you're winning, doesn't take a genius to sign Harden to a max contract"), but the truth is that at the time the Rockets were largely panned for stealing him from OKC.

From the TNT commentators to Bayless and Steven A to even Kornheiser and Wilbon, everybody was calling Harden a glorified "role player". They said he accumulated stats against bench scrubs and that he couldn't do it with the full focus of another team's defense on him. At least Steven A apologized to Harden the following year.

Barkley, it was fun five years ago when you complained about Les and your money. Now that you are the ringleader for the media bias against Houston, I hope you die of a heart attack soon.

Im not saying that that finals loss was on James Harden. However, I am a firm believer that you can indeed lose a series because of the play of a 3rd, 4th, or even 5th option. I still to this day believe we lost the Portland series because of TJones' lack of effort.

No, we lost that series because of Jerry Lin and McFail's pathetic coaching.

And some fans still think the media liked Harden his first year with the Rockets. They didn't think he was capable of being a first opting from the start.

Now I can't say i'm not hard on James because we all see he has major potential and if they would have dropped this story the year he was traded I would be saying okay maybe there is some truth to it, but FOUR years later!!!! GTFOOH OKC! Now I hope Durant leaves you high and dry!!!
