    Great game tonight!

I wasn't able to watch the second half because I was eating out. But I was keeping up with the score with the Rockets App and when Canaan exploded at the end of the 4th, I thought of a comparison to Canaan... Von Wafer.

Von was brought into training camp to compete for the backup/3rd shooting guard after McGrady and Barry. He was an unknown and had to compete with DJ Strawberry for that position. At first, it looked like Strawberry was going to get the spot until the last few games. As Wafer hit 7 or 8 threes in the last preseason game against the Grizzles, and that solidified his spot on the team.

Canaan is competing for that backup/3rd point guard spot, after Beverley and possibly Terry. At first, Ish seemed to be really favored by the coaches and was outplaying him. Now at the end of preseason, I think the answer is clear that Canaan has validated his spot on the team before Ish.

The comparison furthers as Wafer and Canaan are basically the same type of player; sparkplug off the bench. Both players that can change a game if they catch fire. Like in '09, our current team needs a player like that.

It will be interesting if Canaan can fit that Wafer mold from '09. Personally, Wafer was one of my favorite player that season. Once Barry broke down and the whole TMac drama, Wafer was a huge contributor off the bench and starting some games.

Our bench will be the huge question mark this season. Kostas will be solid as I think he will adjust to the 3 point line and DMo is be up and down. Who knows after that? Hopefully Terry can find his juju and so forth, but if Canaan can adopt that sparkplug mentality, out bench can be so much better.

So Canaan reminded you of Wafer based upon the box score?

Hopefully with a lot less being a knucklehead and fighting with his coach.

So can Canaan be an average bench player for one season? I'm hoping for better than that.

You know Kyle Lowry is a top #29 player in the NBA right? He was known for his pesky defense.

Usually when you're saying a guy will be an absolute steal in the second round and an all-star, you don't use the phrase "at best".
