  3. Rudy Gay

  4. Josh Smith

    2.6%

  10. I'm an elitist and I think Hitler was awesome, but you need a superstar to win titles.

I was thinking about all the quazi stars and semi stars in the league, (Iggy, Monta, Rudy Gay, K Mart) and wondering if (with a great supporting cast) they could be the best player on a title team. I'll try to name off as many as I can recall in the poll, if you don't see him please name him in the comments.

Rule of thumb is they can't have ever been superstars.(So guys like Dirk, KG, Pierce, or Bosh are excluded.)

I'll set the bar at Chris Paul.

I'd say maybe Andrew Bynum- only because centers are at a premium. Don't know if you count him as a star.

I'd say maybe a Lamarcus Aldrige guy- if surronded with like Tyson Chandler, Iguoldala, Deng, and like John Wall or someone could win a title in a weaker season (like when the Pistons won).

If Monta was better- like on AI's level- he might be able to pull it off.

you could win with LmA, if the 4 other starters were like this list quality as well (you don't want monta though)

Sub-question: If you had to pick all the guys in that poll against the Miami Heat, who wins in a 7 game series?

The assembled team. Too much firepower from all directions. As long as they can coexist of course.

This team. The Heat may have the best 3 players in the series, but this team would have the next 12 and could go to the bench without sacrificing. They could wear the Heat down.

Rudy Gay... because he clearly showed he's on Kevin Durant's level last season.

Lamarcus Aldridge is a star. He just doesn't get the pub. He's the second best PF in the league behind Kevin Love.

This is basically a "which one of these players is the best" thread.

Not really, I asked who was the best player that's never been considered a superstar. It doesn't have to come from the list, it could be whoever someone suggests. I think Bynum would be a good one depending on if you think he's a star yet.

How is LaMarcus Aldridge is "Semi Star" and not a "Superstar"? He is a top 3 Power Forward that includes Dirk Nowitzki and Kevin Love

Aldridge, Harden and Gordon are the only 3 i see on the list.
Harden and Gordon based on some assumptions (young, so should still improve a bit; also, if Gordon doesn't keep getting injured).

others... should have 3-4 similar level players on the team.

there are some other youngsters who have enough talent to reach that level though. Cousins, Curry, Wall come to mind first.
