    If we make the playoffs.

The guy guards every big man, and usually at least forces a tough shot.He is shut down.

I'm not sure if he eats gunpowder, or what the deal is, but the guy can't be moved. Chuck Hayes is a monster, and I love it. He is the junkyard dawg version 2.0

He will never be the glitzy household name ,but if we do anything this year the guy deserves strong consideration for NBA Defensive Player of year. The guy inspires me to be a better me.

Love what Chuck's done this year. Belongs on an all-defensive team for sure.

But let's be honest, he plays the same position as Dwight Howard.

The Rockets would not be 24th in Def Eff with the DPOY.

And also the same position as Nenad Krstic - point being??

If you're intimating Howard is a better defensive player than Hayes one on one

    Last years All-Defense 2nd Team:

    Tim Duncan
    Thabo Sefolosha
    Josh Smith
    Anderson Varejao
    Dwyane Wade

    He's got a shot.

On a related note, do you guys realize that Kobe Bryant's made 5 consecutive All Defense 1st teams? It's like some kind of perverse joke.

Who cares how good Chuck is one on one, you can have Howard on the court with 4 Kevin Martins and they would still be hard to score against.

Including this season, Howard's posted a D-Rating below 100 for five straight years and has led the league in defensive win shares four straight years.

If you seriously don't think that the Rockets would be a better defensive team by swapping Hayes for Howard, I don't know what to say.

He's the game's best defensive player. I'm surprised that this is a statement I'd even have to defend.

I think Hollinger puts it best

"We don't grade on a curve based on height. What Chuck does is amazing because he's 6-6 ... but that doesn't make him better than Dwight Howard."

I'll still vote for Chuck though :D

This guy sould at least be on the 2nd team, at the very least.

But the NBA only gives recognition and awards to players who wow crowds with dunks and gimmicks, those who drw headlines. So maybe he wont get there.

But we all know he deserves to be there.

The interesting thing will be if you hear any kind of talk from Morey about Chuck for an all-defensive team. You heard Adelman say tonight that something had to be done to get Chuck on one of those teams. Frankly I don't think Morey will mention it as it would drive up Chuck's value in a contract year were he to make an all-defensive team. I don't remember exactly but wasn't Morey pumping up Brooks for MIP when he won it? He wasn't in a contract year.

This team would average 45 FTAs per game.

God srsly, with Hack-a-Dwight, if you don't get close to 60-70 on a close game it would be no surprise to anyone.

The reason for that is because he doesn't come from the weakside for blocks like Howard. He usually shut down his man one on one and draw good charges but as you know charges doesn't show up on stat sheet. But yeah, Chuck would play great defense on his man while the rest of the team slack.
