I've come to realize today that K-rino (founder of the SPC) is one of the most diverse rappers I've ever listened to. He can be inspirational, paranoid, gangster, most of all he is the most lyrical rapper from Houston, hand's down your favorite rapper's, favorite rapper: K-rino.

I think that he is extremely underrated but I believe he likes it like that, he could rival any rapper people consider lyrical, dude makes Drake sounds like a pre-school rapper that's all I know.

To highlight his diversity here are some examples of the styles I spoke of:

Here is an example of him as a lyricist:

    <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/DGfvDQ-nB-4&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/DGfvDQ-nB-4&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Here is some of his inspirational/simple stuff:
    <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/knQv66U9vN0&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/knQv66U9vN0&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Here is the gangster/street style(some straight up Houston **** right here):
    <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/rtEUD9XsYxA&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/rtEUD9XsYxA&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

And here is his Politics/Paranoid (Immortal Techniquesque)
    <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/O5mSWLnJXY0&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/O5mSWLnJXY0&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

Great post... Real hip hop like this is hard to find. K-Rino has crazy talent on the mic.

Guy seems to keep a pretty low profile. He's like the only Houston rapper with any hint of political consciousness.

Absolutely! The man doesn't always choose the best beats, but he is almost always on point with the rhymes. He's also one of the first southern rappers; the man released his 1st single in '86. I think he's the most underrated rapper of all time.

    What about Bun B?

I guess you could make an argument, but when I think of UGK, I don't immediately think "politically conscious."

K is my favorite rapper. I was jamming Book Number 7 last night. He can do it all and he puts out 2-3 cds a year.

His solo album had some pretty political stuff on it. The first track was all about W.

As for K-Rino that dude is awesome. I would have like to have seen our scene blow up when he was still new. Between him, Klondike Kat, Street Military and guys like AC Chill we could have done well. On both notes, the Fakkulty were really good with styles, beats and lyrics. They also hit on a lot of political stuff. Everyone I mentioned is highly underrated.

Is K-Rino still putting music out?

As far as I know, he is. I always heard K-Rino was the king of the battle rappers. Anybody ever seen him go?

    Extremely underrated.

I just wish he had access to better studios. Production is usually always lacking on his stuff, but at the same time he doesn't need the production to carry the song. The sound quality and mixing are usually lacking as well, so it's hard to listen to him after a while.

I remember walking out of Toyota Center once during open practice...walking to the parking lot I looked over to the guys next to me, and it was K-Rino and one of his friends. Very low key...no chains, no promotional t-shirt, nothing. Just seemed like another regular guy, so I let him be.

Now that I think about it...I have really lost touch with all of my Houston rap...

I have no clue who is doing what, or even who is actually making music.

What is Z-Ro up to? Along with K-Rino he's one of the best rappers to come out of Houston. He's also one of the best at combining singing with his raps...makes all of this new auto-tune stuff look weak.

I agree with your point, but would also say that auto-tune makes auto-tune look weak. That $#!+ is trash.

Z-Ro has a CD "Heroin" coming out next week.

K-Rino has a double disc coming soon (don't know the release date):

Plain and simple, K-Rino is the greatest rapper ever from the state of Texas. He's been in the game for 25 years and he's still putting out dope ish.

My favorite K-Rino songs are Two Roads, Doin' Bad, RIP AC Chill, Amnesia, Holla at Me, Illusions, Make a Move, and Verbal Execution
