Whoa! Your comment and the video posted by T4Buckets is a pleasant surprise. I vaguely remember that game and Bill Worrell's humorous commentary. My bad for not remembering Hayes is a better FT shooter than I remember.

I can't wait to log into this forum the first time McHale puts Hayes in to cover a superstar post player who is killing the Rockets and then watch all the "OMGWTF! This Chuck Hayes guy should start!" posts from all the new Rockets fans and naysayers in this thread as Chuck completely destroys the guy defensively.

Fans are worried about free throws or threes........ That not what Chuck is here for. He's here for defense, rebounds and his veteran leadership. He's not gonna be the starter, he's gonna be here as someone who will be one of the last guys on the bench. Replacing Joey dorsey..... He's gonna be here as a specialist, defensively. Some who'll come in and give you energy, hustle and play hardnosed defense. Someone who can draw a charge and give you 6 hard fouls.

You guys were in love with Beverly... imagine Beverly at PF. Chuck is not gonna have plays drawn for him. He's gonna get cut, backdoor cuts and offensive rebounds for put back. He gonna do the dirtywork, in his limited minutes. Quit crying. ;)

If anything he's overrated. He's a good low post defender and teammate. Idk what else you want people to say about chuck wagon

Well you have to admit, he isn't the same player from back then. You have to wonder at what point will he play? I love Chuck too but Terry would have been a better signing at this point.

Finally, an outside shooting big man we can sub in for Dwight during the hack-a-shaq.

Preach it brother. Bunch of fookin' Johnny Come Latelys who were probably zygotes during the Yao/McGrady and mediocrity treadmill years. Rockets just dropped JOEY FREAKING DORSEY for Chuck Hayes...a man that can pass out of the post above everything else

Well what if he only gets the same minutes Dorsey got last year??? What if his defense is much better than Jones or maybe Dmo?? Does he deserve more minutes?? And what if we still sign Terry?? Whats the problem here? Terry and Hayes are gonna be good signings, I promise you.

If you recall when we signed Terry last year everyone here went crazy.

Feels so great to see superstars willing to take a huge paycut to join the Rockets in hopes of winning a title.

I would love for Chuck to surprise everybody, but that won't happen. He just came from a team where he was subbing for lesser talent.
Also, if you recall Capela took those minutes from Dorsey in the playoffs. The only way i see Chuck fitting in here is in practice with the younger group of guys.
The reason i say Terry would have been a better signing is because we are stacked with big men.

Do you really think we're stacked with big men?? We have the same rotation as last year minus Josh Smith..

I guess your talking about Christian Wood...? That makes us really stacked. Take way Josh Smith and add Christian Wood..... Bigs IMO is still our weakest spot.....Harrell or Wood does not change that.

Even peak Chuck Hayes was never going to get minutes on another team besides the Rockets. Chuck is not a player that surprises. We know what he can and will do. I don't know if you think people here are seriously saying that he is a starter or will get anything more than spot minutes. Post defense is not something you lose. He isn't a perimeter player.

The only reason Josh got playing time was because everyone was hurt. Fans tend to forget just how good TJ and DMO were before they got injured. Then you have Capella who looked great in his first playoff appearance, that is a pretty good rotation.

Nobody thought Dorsey was going to get any burn last year but he did unfortunately bc of Dwight's injury. I expect Chuck to play a lot more than we expect. And I expect him to play well. His defense is elite, he's a great passer from the elbow and a great locker room guy. Now we just need to get Jet back.

Glad that Hayes got signed. DMO and Jones would do well to listen to the Chuck wagon on how to play individual and team defense. Dude has mastered the art of bodying an offense player without being called for a foul.

The important thing is that Chuck Hayes makes the center position unusable for the other team. He should start unless we need more 3s from that starting position.

Great addition for when Tjones and Dmo get abused by a bigger 4.

Pretty bummed about the Terry news. He's probably going back to Dallas.
