FIFY. And not even an insult to reds, after all, isn't the GOP all about money?

On topic, I'm not sure if I want Dallas an hour away. I enjoy having that nice 4-6 hour buffer.

2021? If I'm still down here then.....sounds nice.

It would be nice to attend an SEC game and then be back home with out having to make the drive.

Blue Line if there is a stop at the airport.
If not IAH, then Green if it stops in CS.
If there are no stops, then Red as it seems most direct.

    There. /thread.

If you can make it to Dallas <2 hours with a stop in CS, then adding that stop just makes the system more economically viable (or more likely to add future lines due to utility) and business travelers would still use it cause it's still faster than flying. They could simply add some weekday express trains that doesn't stop in CS. But Friday-Sunday, it will stop. Adds flexibility and viability.

Why not to Austin or New Orleans?

Even San Antonio would be better.

So it's going to cost 41.7 million a mile?

I guess that's a better deal than Austin's 9 mile rail that's supposed to cost about 67 million a mile and the Austin rail is using public funds.

A lot more money in a Dallas to Houston versus Austin to Houston or New Orleans to Houston route.

Last thing we need is more people from New Orleans evacuating to Houston.

Simple situation... to get to A to B in the shortest, most cost effective time.

Blue if you don't care about money and want time over anything.

Red if you care about money and time... though we have to put in new rails anyway, so not sure how much using an existing/aged rail line saves since it will need a lot of overhaul.

Green is for aggies who want A&M to get a government project in their favor... even though they are Republicans who typically hate the idea of commy rail systems and government spending for the commonwealth. It should be called the maroon line. Leave it to aggies to support the least direct train path.

Careful Kemosahbe. You've bought into all the stereotypes and jumped to all the wrong conclusions.

This will be privately funded so tax money isn't a factor. In fact, Republicans should like this because it's a capitalist endeavor. As such, private investors will want the greatest return meaning establishing the highest ridership possible. From my perspective, a route with one stop in BCS would maximize ridership.

One thing I am concerned about that this being in Texas- what if some cow, horse or other livestock accidentally gets in the way of this high speed rail. Could spell disaster.
