I'm kinda disappointed with only 6 nationally televised games. Do most of you think the team needs to earn the TV games, or should be given games just because of Ming? B

I guess I would say that the schedule looks fair. Obviously, we play each team a specified number of games (as does everyone else), but it really doesn't look like we have any cupcake months or any killer ones either. We do have the opportunity to get out to a good start, though, where I would be surprised, although not completely shocked, to see the team at 7-0 by the time we first play the Lakers. Most likely it will be worse than that, and we will be on the road a lot that first month, but I think it's important the team takes advantage of a first month schedule that includes 2 against G.S., one against Denver, Cleveland Washington, Toronto and Phoenix each, and winnable games against Seattle, Portland, Indiana and the Clippers. The only teams we play that month that made it past the first round of hte playoffs are away games against the Lakers and Mavs. Hopefully, a fast start will help the team gel together and get stronger as the season goes on.
Considering how we played last season, we should be THANKFUL for six nationally televised games. I can guarantee you that if we had not drafted Ming, there would probably only be one or two scheduled. Besides, national TV schedules can change at the blink of an eye... I noticed we only have two five game road trips, which is pretty good. That March 18-27 stretch is going to be BRUTAL! Seattle and Portland back to back, Sacramento and The Clippers back to back, and San Antonio and the Lakers back to back? Damn, that stretch could very well decide if we make the playoffs or not...
Not to mention, I got Fox Southwest channel but ROCKETS is only on 6 National TV game. What's with that? We got the No.1 draft pick and I think NBA should showcase Ming, But I guess that's not the case.
http://msn.espn.go.com/nba/news/2002/0718/1407157.html NEW YORK -- The Sacramento Kings will have to wait until Christmas Day to get another shot at the Los Angeles Lakers. The two teams will meet on Dec. 25 for the first time since the Lakers won a thrilling seven-game series to advance to the NBA Finals. The Lakers then swept the New Jersey Nets to capture their third straight championship. The NBA released its 2002-2003 schedule on Thursday. There will be three games on opening night (Oct. 29), including the Lakers squaring off with the San Antonio Spurs in Los Angeles. Fourteen games will follow the next night. If Michael Jordan suits up next season, his first game for the Wizards will be against Vince Carter and the Toronto Raptors on Oct. 30. ABC and ESPN are entering the first year of a six-year agreement with the NBA. ABC will televise 14 games beginning with a Christmas Day doubleheader that includes the Kings-Lakers matchup. TNT will televise 52 games, including the All-Star Game for the first time. ESPN and ESPN2 will combine to carry 76 games. The ESPN networks will feature one game each Wednesday night with a doubleheader every Friday evening. The first pick of the draft, Yao Ming, will make his first nationally-televised appearance for the Houston Rockets on ESPN against the Phoenix Suns on Nov. 15.
