Nintendo had a meeting recently where they mentioned some details about the Wii (some of which was mentioned previously, but probably not well-known). IGN has a few articles that mention some of these new details, which I'll post here:

Pokemon is Nintendo's biggest cash cow, ever.

actually i'd say hand-helds (gameboy/gb color/micro/ds) are their biggest cash cow ever.

I have business dealings with Nintendo and they are by far the most profitable console maker since they don't lose money making them and all the popular games are house brand.

Ok question. Will gamecube controllers work on the Wii...or will you have to use either the remote or the "classic" controller (which I hate). The gamecube controller is such a great design, right up there with the dual shock and s-controller...it'd be a shame for them to ditch it and actually downgrade with that crappy snes looking controller w/ added analog sticks.

Gamecube controllers will work on the Wii.

Also, although I know it is not 'for' me, I have to say I'm pretty tired of Pokemon as well. I'm really, really glad that Nintendo has finally moved away from pushing the franchise to the forefront and is focusing on other things now.

that said, there is still an audience for it and they would be stupid to not at least put a game out there for them.

My five year old and every other five year old he knows would agree with you. They love pokemon, and they play it everyday at his school.

On another note, although off topic, has anyone tried the new Teen Titans game. I bought for my son and we have had a blast playing it. It is not very long but it is fun. It probably isn't a game for older people unless they are big fans of the show, but it has been a very entertaining kids game. Especially at 19.99.
