Do you guys know about this? I did a quick search and couldn't find anything about it, thought it's worth mentioning.

I think this is one issue that transcends party lines, and I know we are mostly cynics on this board but what do you think about this? Does it have even a long term legit chance of picking up enough steam to work?

Are the only fighting to get the citizens united case overturned by amending the constitution? Is that their only cause?

Yes, seems like a cause big enough to be the sole purpose of a movement no?

From what I've read, they believe that overturning citizens united has a major impact on every other issue Americans uniformly consider important therefore they make it the first issue they tackle.

Can't argue with them too much. When I joined this board years ago, I was told that the reason the United States allows legalized bribery is that it's going to happen anyway so you might as well know about it. Now, you can't really know about it. That seems to be a massive breach of your sovereignty which far outweighs any other single issue.

What kind of citizenry says it's ok for private investors to donate to candidates on an unlimited basis and in secrecy? There's no such precedent in history and we all know the results have been terrible. You can firmly predict the outcome of issues by assuming it will lean towards what's best for large private investors. You can ignore that for a while, but at the end of the day that pattern is what will starve Americans.

There's no such thing as reasonable greed, that's why it keeps growing.

Greed used to be one of the Seven Deadly Sins, today it is an anchoring principle of our political and economic systems.

Many Americans have been indoctrinated into an all encompassing economic market ideology that says that greed is good as it is merely a form of market demand and that the "invisible hand" will always lead to the best possible outcome as well as maximum individual FREEDOM in any area of human endeavor as long as their is virtually no regulation of the market. Political speech including paid broadcast media should also be unregulated and whatever politicians we get, though perhaps flawed, are as with any other unregulated market outcome the best possible and reflect the wishes of all of society..

The folks who are at the top propagating this ideology find it useful and many sincerely believe the ideology as it justifies their power and wealth. This fundamentalist form of market ideology is akin to religious theories which have justified the relative position of hereditary kings, nobles and surfs in various feudal systems.
