Hmm... remember when OKC rescinded a trade after discovering a left foot (particulalry, left big toe) problem during physical?

With Yao, Ariza already on board... I think the Rockets can be dominating podiatrist and footware insole endorsement contracts?

He sucks, only averaged 8.7rebs and 1.2 blocks last season, has no offense, plays like an idiot. I dont want him for that kind of money.

We don't have a Chris Paul to spoon feed him.

We do have options. Unfortunately, winning a championship or making a splash in the playoffs isn't one of them.

So we have to start looking at our future, especially next year and the 2010 sweepstakes. Why should we go after an overpaid player who relies heavily on an elite point guard for offense?

If yao doesn't play this season and we don't get a big man, we're gonna get steam rolled from the other teams big men

Exactly. We're rebuilding anyways so we might as well get a lottery pick. Remember, that's how the Spurs got their dynasty.

so you want to get a big man who puts up like 10 and 10 and makes 10 mill plus past 2010? No way...he's not exactly a defensive specialis tor anything, he blocks shots based on size and not that well anyway....we might as well go with a free agent

And why exactly does that matter? Now that McGrady is as good as gone, Yao's career is in jeopardy and Ron Artest is gone, the best thing that can happen to us is we get steam rolled and get a top 5 pick (preferably #1) to rebuild around.

Exactly which Western Conference big men are we so scared of? Most every one either has very few offensive skills or are really just Power Forwards playing center.

I'd have to think that we'd go with Scola at center before we foolishly overpay or tie ourselves to a high priced long term contract.

Maybe it's just me but I don't see Bynum, Oden, Okur, Dampier, Biedrens, Lopez, Chandler, Marc Gasol, Thabeet,Kamen,Kristic as being too much of a threat.

Duncan , Nene and Jefferson are all really PFs and Scola is a better match up for them than Yao was. I'm sure SA will go pick up somebody to play center so Duncan doesn't always have to guard centers, but I can't imagine that they're going to get sombody that good.

There aren't too many centers who are good in the league. How many of these contending centers scare you?

Western Conference: Bynum, Oden, Nene, Okur, Chandler, Duncan, Dampier

Eastern Conference: Howard, Horford, Perkins, Miller, Brown, Dalembert, Ilgauskas, J. O'Neal

I'm not saying we don't need a big, but the need for a center is over exaggerated, IMHO.
