Anyone remember one of the few flicks where the Duke got bumped o... uh, better not give it away. Was it "The Wreck of the Red Witch"? Something like that. There was a bad multi-legged critter in that one!

You can still swim in neighborhood pools. I can assure you there are no sea monstrs in those. Oh, by the way, I thought I seen the lochness monster pop out of our local city pool once. :p

I'm confused. This colossus squid is bigger than giant squid's when fully grown. The article states that the colussus squid that they found was half grown, yet it weighed 330 lbs. Then they go on to say that fully grown giant squids can weigh up to 2000 lbs. Doesn't there seem like a discrepancy here? I mean, sure they could have different densities, but not THAT different, right? Was this colussus squid that they captured just a runt?

About determining if it was half grown, there are many ways to tell. For example, if we suddenly found a 250 lb. puppy, or a 7'0 tall 8 yrold boy, you'd still know they were only half grown, right?

I don't get it either. There was some hint that they captured parts from sperm whale stomachs so maybe they are extrapolating from those parts?

Don't they find a few of these each year washed up on a shore in New Zealand?

Mmm....maybe Peter Jackson is making a remake of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea :)

I'll take my chances with a shark over a giant squid any day.

You can at least kind of fight sharks by gouging their eyes out. What the heck are you supposed to do against tentacles and stuff? :(

    lol!

Antisonic...thanks for posting something from the news that wasn't political. It was refreshing and interesting...kinda like cc.net used to always be.

BTW-I know I am guilty of banter. My hypocrisy has no bounds.
