Just imagine if Yao Ming hadn't went down in game 3...

I know this is just a "what if" and the Lakers are definitely a championship team. No doubt they'll be a force in the west for a good while. Kobe, Gasol, and Odom are still pretty young and Bynun is just developing, but with the way we played the Lakers you have to wonder. If Yao Ming hadn't went down, I felt that there was a very good chance( not a certainty) that we would've been the champs had we got past the Lakers. You could argue that the Lakers didn't play to their potential in games 4 and 6 knowing that Yao was not there, but that was the Rockets' defense at work forcing Kobe into bad shots and Aaron Brooks takin charge at the offensive end. Scola & Landry acting like beasts inside. We really could've used Yao Ming in game 7 where we just couldn't get any offense going outside the key and settling for jump shots. That was in part to the Lakers' defense in that game, knowing they didn't have to focus in on that big guy in the middle.

IF in fact we'd gotten by the Lakers in that game, I think that we would've taken Denver in six games and Orlando pretty easily. Both them teams would't had had an answer for Yao Ming and we've shown we domintated those team in the past two years (Rockets were 5-1 vs. Nuggets/Magic this year). It's my opinion that if Yao hadn't went down in game 3, we would've been NBA Champs.

If a picture paints a thousand words,
Then why can't I paint you?
The words will never show the you I've come to know.
If a face could launch a thousand ships,
Then where am I to go?
There's no one home but you,
You're all that's left me too.
And when my love for life is running dry,
You come and pour yourself on me.

If a man could be two places at one time,
    I'd be with you.
Tomorrow and today, beside you all the way.
If the world should stop revolving spinning slowly down to die,
I'd spend the end with you.
And when the world was through,
Then one by one the stars would all go out,
Then you and I would simply fly away

who knows, we might not even be able to take LA to 7 games if Yao played, it would have most likely ended in 5 OR 6.

Rockets would've still lose to the Lakers, but with yao they had a better chance. The 4 games played in LA, 2 w/ Yao were winable games, 2 w/o Yao were blow outs. With a healthy Tmac though, it would've been interesting.

Imagine if we actually traded Ralph Sampson to Portland for Drexler and the 2nd pick (the rights for Jordan).

It was proposed by Portland. :(

I don't think we can finally beat LA even if YAO standed up to game 7, seeing Howard being dysfuntional in the finals. We just played a differet style without Yao, which made Lakers uncomfortable and tactically underestimated the smaller but faster Rox.

We would've lost in 6. The only reason the series was extended is because the Lakers lost interest.

In my opinion if Yao had stayed we would have lost in 5.
