I pray this does not happen......but couple of days since the most gutless, unprofessional, lifeless exit from a playoff series in my memory......JB hasn't been fired yet.....What do y'all awesome rockets fans " who had to sit through this collections of near do wells wearing rockets jerseys this season" think?

He wont be coaching next year. Take it easy. He's the Interim HC, not Head Coach. Now or later, it doesn't matter when it happens.

    Interim tagged head coach.

He will probably get an interview for the head coaching job, but they will not "fire" him, essentially because, he was never the head coach of this team.

Yes I will be shocked. It would be an indication that Morey is mentally ill.

You dont need to worry about no official firing for jbb. Hes interim its not needed.

Les Alexander hires and fires the coaches, so yes it would be surprising if Morey did a hiring he doesn't have the authority to do.

morey has already demonstrated that he is a borderline r****d when it comes to hiring coaches, so i wouldn't be all that surprised if he extended JBB's tenure. anything is possible with morey and his bizarre view on coaching.

JBB is dead man walking. I almost feel bad for him because he was thrown into an untenable situation, but he was in over his head.

It was Les who extended McHale's contract, btw.

And we weren't going to hire a real coach with McHale on the first of a three-year extension. No real coach would want to step in on the heels of McHale getting s***-canned, and Les wasn't going to fork over, say, $5-6 million a year on top of the $4 million he's already wasting on McHale (despite Morey's "money is no object to Mr Alexander" statement to the media).

I would like to think Daryl Morey learned a lesson from this season, especially since he knows he would also be out if the disaster continues.

But who's going to be the hire. JVG? Luke Walton? Kevin Ollie? Joerger?

It takes one to know one?

The organization knows what position they put him in. My money is on them finding a way to retain him on the staff (if he's so inclined to continue with us).

I'd be shocked. The only way JB is retained is if the organization intentionally wants to tank for 2-3 years. But I can't imagine Les signing onto a plan like that. Especially 2 months before they even have a chance to talk to any free agents.

But I do wonder if the uncertainty over the roster will scare away any decent head coaching candidates out there.

No, he is a black Steve Kerr. All he needs is just more time.

JBB is just the interim coach, so can he even be "fired"? I don't think he's under contract. Right now we do not have a head coach technically, but the Rockets will interview him out of courtesy only.

Of course, his real interview was his on-the-job performance last season, which was objectively speaking, truly pathetic.
