Tired of comcast internet. Expensive and becoming less reliable.

    Any better/cheaper internet in Houston?

Have directtv for tv. I know they have a bundle of some sort.

I could give some advice but I need to know some specifics.

Do you live in a House or a Complex?

If it is a a home do you own it?

If you could fix your reliability issues if with comcast would you keep them?

What is the most you are willing to pay for internet?

Do you what providers are available in your area?

Not, If you care about speed. Even the best tiers on Uverse are slow when compared to comcast.

This... Comcast Speed cannot be beat but if service is up/down you need to call that in.. Even if it takes 3 months (experience here) after the tier 2 guys come out and try to troubleshoot they will call that final regional tier 3 guy.. And then it's all golden after that. Hardly had any down service in the past 3 years.

We literally have up to 4 netflix streams going / torrent / surfing / online gaming on at the same time in our house.. Nothing comes close so far to comcast... I wish there would be so I can save on money :(

The reason I asked if you rent or own is because if you own your house Comcast will replace the wiring free of charge if that is the source of the problem. When you don't own that is where it gets more tricky because you have to get consent from the property owner.

Fios from verison is a great option but the availability in houston is small.

Also comcast has new modem that has built in wireless N and is alot more reliable then their past modems.

Even though they are expensive, sadly they are the best...and they just have taken over the market...

I just wish that just like energy deregulation, that the courts can allow for more competition...seriously... in this day and age...49-60 dollars for highspeed internet only per month is ridiculous

On a related note about Comcast internet- Is it better to own my own modem instead of renting it from Comcast for 7 bucks a month? Or do those things go bad too often. My parents have Comcast and about once a year I swap out the modem for a new one when the service seems to start lagging.

I also have Directv and Comcast Internet. I looked at the DTV Internet bundles. They're crap. Sadly, nothing beats Comcast for speed today, especially in League City. :(

As everyone else has said, if you define "better" as speed, the answer is no. If you factor in reliability, U-Verse blows Comcast away and their top-tier speed is great. Comcast is a little faster but it probably won't matter to you.

Sadly, no. Unfortunately Comcast has the best speeds, and the best price for those speeds (even though it's still too high). U-Verse is closest.

Is that Uverse speeds? That's too slow for it to be comcast.

are those comcast speeds sustainable over large downloads?

don't they use that powerboost technology for like X mb of the file?
