This was brought up subtly by rajon (credit to him) in the main Hard-on thread.

Couldn't help but linger on it.

    - How does this fit in with McHale's system and was it something he was looking for?
    - Is this a certain advanced statistic that Morey might find as an invaluable foundation for players in offenses, maybe strongly correlated with offensive win shares?

    Forecasting:

    - great offensive creation from our guards, leading to tighter wing defense, occasional double teams, spread out floors, and lots of open passes.
    - more likely to finish games down the stretch and hit clutch shots.

    Thoughts?

    oh and... 1000th post!

I remember reading somewhere that Harden and Lin are 7th and 8th in PPP from Iso last season.

Chris Paul is better than Lin. Let's get Paul.

All the major moves of the off season -- Harden, Asik, Lin -- are all darlings of advanced stats. It's hard not to connect this to Morey's predilection for that kind of analysis.

Chris Paul might be heading to the Knicks if Melo had his way. Oh wait...Melo does have his way on the Knicks.

Lin is an above average pnr player Harden is elite. Lin is an elite isolation player Harden is elite at iso's as well. So McHale will run a lot of those sets.

Imagine what McHale could have done with Francis and Mobley!

    last preseason games

Asik is been too much guarded by others players

maybe for this, Lin improved his game, because the free space for him

Harden can penetrate too (different than KMartin).

and it could mutually open space to Lin or Asik and Hardem

And 3 shots jumps for Chandler

It just means that we have two unstoppable players on the perimeter, and that they will be able to play off each other. Whoever's defender is not up to par will take their turn attacking the basket. I believe that Lin and Harden will have excellent chemistry on the court and amplify each other's skills.

Strong one-on-one game because he's so versatile. He can pull the trigger from anywhere or simply break you down off the bounce.

Here's his clutch trey out of an iso against SA:

Knicks have no cap space or flexibility to get Chris Paul.

The only way is if CAA/Worldwide Wes made Amare "disappear."

Dark days... I remember when I first saw McGrady play on the Rockets. It was like I had forgotten how the game could be. Trying to replicate the success of Olajuwon with a couple of dopes was such painful thing to watch.

I think Mobley would have been much better if he didn't play with scoring first PG's his whole career (Francis here and Cassell with the Clippers). He was my favorite player of that era and I got to meet him during the Rockets vs Blazers Playoff series. Cool dude, Francis was next to him and he was kind of a prick. But yes, you are right. After Hakeem, the team had no identity as a team, just a bunch of ball hogs who had flashes of greatness but never put anything together. Pre-injury T-Mac was a blessing.

I thought this thread was gonna be about how Harden and Lin were 4th and 12th in the league in free throws per field goal attempt (1st and 3rd amongst guards) last season.
