Asking Kevin Love to take a paycut to leave Lebron doesn't sound very likely, does it.

If he's leaving the Cavs he's taking a paycut no matter where he goes.

#1 - If he "wants" to come and harden wants him to come also, keep harden happy PERIOD

#2 - Teams are going to be greedy when the cap goes up and throw all kind of money at players, get who you can now

#3 - Howard is under contract for only more year, have to contend now, but still worry about future at same time, we still have assets to make things happen this yr

#4 - Mchales here to stay, if love wants to come here because of him then that Mcahales signing better and more worth

Love has been exposed as a mediocre PF, maybe slightly above average. I dont see the hoopla surrounding his impending free agency at all, and think it would be a HUGE mistake to trade any key pieces for him.

I think DMo can be taught to rebound.

What exactly does Love do better than DMO besides Rebound?
Love has more history of consistancy
but I have faith in DMo and Capela
I think they are developing quite well

Some things cannot be taught. DMo is not going to be a good rebounder.

Going to the WCF and trading guys that helped you get there is a super risky move...unless it's for a generational talent like Durant or something...Love? Not sure he's worth that risk.

Perhaps a year ago, but DMo was >35%, right around Kevin Love-level this year.

DMo needs to work on defensive rebounding, a lot, but other than that he did everything better than or at the same level as Kevin Love this year, and should we really expect a significantly different Love on this Rockets team?

He's a nice to have, not need to have. As MK Bower mentioned, TJ/DMo/Smith can certainly man the 4-spot. What we need is 3 PT shooting off the bench and a secondary playmaker, either as the starter at PG or as a Sixth Man.

I'd love to see this rebounding school you plan on sending him to. Theories in Ball Grabbing! Advanced Boxing Out. Physics, taught by Moses Malone.

Rebounding is a skill that doesn't require too much teaching or training, people are regularly able to come in the league and be good at it right away. It has very little to do with learning technical skills, like maybe shooting, and a lot to do with innate physical aptitude (size, strength, quick reaction time, quick leaping) - all of the things that the Rodmans of the universe had.

On the other side of the coin, if you don't have these skills, the likelihood of developing them is very slim. Motiejunas is probably one of the very worst rebounding big men in the NBA. He has been in the league for 3 years. There is no extra rebounding gear that is hiding away down there.

I'd much rather have Love and DMo as depth than DMo/TJones.

Love is an elite offensive player and is a great fit for Harden. He's clearly a star and that's what Morey wants.

GARM and their obsession with role players... you have any idea how easy it is for Morey to get good role players? Getting a talent like Love though is more rare and difficult. Morey I expect will pounce on this

Dwight for Love? No thanks. This would set us back several years

Rep coming - this sums up the problem with Dmo and why it's absolutely crazy to consider him untouchable. I can't think of a single player who started as a weak rebounder and became even competent. Furthermore, Dmo's rebounding woes aren't like that of Jones, who never boxes out. He just doesn't have the explosiveness to get to the ball quickly, even when he boxes out properly.

See this is the problem with discussing this issue.

We actually have to answer this question.

Rebounding is super important for the Rockets, all of those paint shots with Harden dragging two a couple of defenders over are taken with the understanding that the Rockets will have somebody in good position if he misses...IIRC he's one of the best in the league at "missed shot leads to a offensive rebound" to the extent it's been studied.
