WOW, OKC looks ready to take over the West. It will take a few weeks to get Perkins into the offense, once he returns from injury, but by playoff time...DANGEROUS team.

They (Celtics) should never have low balled him like that.

Perk is worth 5 years $40 million easy.

A what 6 point 8 rebound center is worth 5 years 40 mil with injury history?

Plus he came out of high school so you can't call him too young even though he is 26.

He is probably the best defensive Center in the league behind Dwight Howard.

He has steadily improved his play every year and he helped anchor the Celts D.
Market dictates value, and in Perk's case 7-8 million per year is fair value.

Brendan Haywood just signed a deal worth 5 years 40 mil. (And he's 31 years old)

    Who would you rather have?

WORD! Then again, I'd take Thabeet at his current deal over that albatross of a contract Cuban gave that fat loafer. I can't wait to see Mark Cuban spend $50 million this offseason on Ty Chandler.

I agree he's worth it, but I can also understand Boston trading him away for a good asset instead of signing a long contract given that the end is nigh for their current squad. I wonder a little about the wisdom of avoiding a big contract with a center because he'd still be tradable even with a big contract given the need for bigs in the league. Still, by waiting for the new CBA, they can probably get a better deal when it's time to re-sign Green then if they were to re-up Perkins right before.

I read in a couple of reports that the 4 yrs $22M offer was the most that Boston could offer by way of EXTENSION during the year. However, after the year ends I think they could have offered him more, but I suspect they knew they were not going to able to offer him the going rate.

I'm just glad they moved to OKC.

I couldn't stand the Sonics being this good again.

WojYahooNBA: OKC increased Perkins' 2010-'11 salary $2.3M to $6.70M and did extension off new number. Creative work by GM Sam Presti and agent Bob Myers.

WojYahooNBA: The deal includes bonus clauses that can increase Perkins contract, sources say.

Presti is genius, of course it's a little easier to say when Durant falls into your lap. Still, Presti makes some incredible moves.

WojYahooNBA: Kendrick Perkins' contract extension with Oklahoma City pays him $34.8 million over four years, league source tells Y! Sports.

Presti's definitely the top GM in the league at the moment, unless you want to give Riley credit for the Superfriends.

I'm still wondering how we didn't work out something with Boston, given the pieces that moved around and their initial interest in Battier.

a little more per year than my 40/5year number!

    Presti agrees with me.
