I typically just buy Arriba roasted red or green; their hot versions are great with food but a little too hot for chips, the medium is not quite hot enough for me, personally. Getting bored with it and looking for something different and tasty, I have a good HEB and Specs locally, so something reasonably common would be nice. Suggestions?

Same goes for hot sauce, love the flavor of Cholula, but it could be hotter.

Make your own buddy. No better way to control the flavor and get what you want. A mocajete, boiled onions, tomatoes, clove, cumin, garlic clove and serrano peppers, add in a bit of salt and pepper.

It's hard to find salsas that aren't sweet. I could see it for mild, but why are medium & hot salsas sweet?

Oh, I know, I'm just thinking for those times when I buy a jar to stick in the pantry for emergency purposes or out of laziness. Plus I like trying and different things.

I thought cilantro was a cornerstone?

I don't eat salso much because I avoid chips but the Costco organic stuff is alright and comes in a big jar.

I second that Arriba is the best store bought salsa you can get.

Love that fire roasted Arriba salsa when I need a jar (when I don't make my own).

The hot is too damn hot for chips and salsa like the OP said.....medium is good, but just a little too light on the heat.

Exactly how I make it. But I add lime juice and cilantro.

For those saying the hot is too hot and the medium is not hot enough, have yall ever thought about keeping both and mixing them when you pour a bowl? This way you get the right amount of heat to your liking. Boom! Youre welcome, will take rep as alternative.

Also, would like to throw in another contender for a chip dip salsa. Herdez Guacamole Salsa. Its the chit. Its not chunky like maybe youre used to with chip dip salsa but its a blended salsa that has texture.

You know, it must be impossible for a Spanish person to order seltzer and not get salsa.

Yeah, same. Hoping I can find it in Cali, where most mexican food and related condiments are absolutely turrrible, TBH, especially in NoCal.

Recently tried Tejano Salsa... it was quite good, but serve it warm.

HEB's fresh salsa that is available in the produce area is delicious.
