Because McHale watched Thabeet play in the preseason and deemed him as ineffective...although I still would have had him active just to get 6 fouls on Dwight Howard. DH always hated playing Yao because he was hard to move or shoot over.

Why should he have played or been active? Jeff Adrien took his 5(7) minutes and gave his 4 fouls.

    Right from the GM's mouth:

[rQUOTEr]With all rookies, we think we are good team. Just like Patterson last year having to go through a process to get on the floor, I think Marcus will as well. We're not a team, thankfully, where a rookie will come in and have an easy time playing. Obviously, it was nice for fans to see his potential. Marcus might take time to see the floor. I think thats good for rookies to go through a process to get on the floor and show how their work ethic can get them on the floor.[/rQUOTEr]

Hmmm, is that why Morris only played 4 minutes last night? I wonder!?!?!

[rQUOTEr]The bigs rotation will be who we are planning to sign, Luis, Patrick and Jordan. Hasheem is somebody can probably give us 5-10 minutes a night.[/rQUOTEr]

And Jeff Adrien took his 5-10 minutes last night. So now you're left arguing over which scrub should and shouldn't be playing or should/shouldn't be inactive.

    No

Why? Because he was not as awful as you expected?

I think it speaks volumes that against one of the few legit centers in the NBA today, Thabeet was inactive.

Should tell you all you need to know.

Yep that McHale has no clue !

At least get the fouls out of the guy...that way you aren't stuck in crucial situations asking a tired Scola to guard the guy.

Inexcusable strategy to have Adrian and Flynn active instead of Thabeet...

    Just ****ing stupid.

He's probably trying to light a fire under him. He's the only other true center on this team besides Dalembert, and it looks like Hill is going to push him out of the rotation. He needs to get fired up and affect the game like we all know he can with his size. The fact that, if he doesn't improve, he'll be known as one of the greatest draft busts should be more than enough motivation. I haven't really liked what I've seen from Thabeet.

Eh, blame him for the rotations and some of the substitution patterns but Thabeet not playing is a pattern that started in Memphis, then Adelman and now McHale. That speaks more about Thabeet than elbows.

It is not about Thabeet, it is about him being a big body and having 6 fouls to give a break to Hill and Dalembert if needed.

It is about overall TEAM strategy when playing Dwight Howard...

    It is idiotic.

last I heard from McHale is that Thabeet gets winded too easily, not in game shape.

    But you know what,

Other than the conditioning issue, i am not understanding the Thabeet hate. The guy improved in that 2nd preseason game. He got two blocks in 8 minutes of play that night. He averaged 1.5 blks and 1 assist in the preseason. He can be effective.

2 blocks is pretty good no? Especially in such a small playing time.

And he was hustling out there and made a couple of nice plays.

    Did you watch the games?

Folks here overated dunks, as soon as Thabeet thunders one down like TWill you will have a lot of people going...ooooh..he is the shiznitz !!

I just care that the organization makes the right decisions, and sitting him in this particular game was stupid.

Scola guarding Howard in the 4th quarter because Hill and Dalembert had too many fouls....yeah...that is going to work...and shockingly the Magic pulled away.

    Not impressed so far.

Does this go in the "Biggest Houston Blunders" category?
