From what I read, the judge lives in a gated community with armed guards and stuff. It's supposed to be relatively safe.
This was probably done by a rival gang, not El Chapo's people. El Chapo bribes judges, not kills them. Plus this judge was blocking his extradition to the US. The rival gang want him to be extradited and punished (probably life or death sentence) here.
Most countries do that Then he would have been already shot dead. Day 1. Either by the Cartels, armed forces or political enemies/allies.
The Cartels are responsible for more deaths than ISIS and they are right beside us. Kind of sad we always hear about ISIS, but we kind of just accept the cartels.
