Great player but selfish and a crybaby. It's almost justice how the Lakers have fallen into mediocrity, and he won't get his 6th ring to tie Jordan.
too stubborn and proud to change his game and be become a complimentary player in his old age. little b**** only wants to win games if he gets to be the hero.
He was toilet the previous 2 seasons as well! So 3 years late. Shoulda retired when he got injured BEFORE signing that extension!
Mamba out? Who signs off on a serious letter like that. Respected his game but his ego is second to none and for that I never could even come close to admiring him. He has almost single-handedly run the Lakers franchise into the ground too with that ego.
He's the closest to MJ in terms of attitude and determination, but not in terms of production. For as great a player as Kobe is, he never led the league in PER, WS, OWS, DWS, Ortg, Drtg, WS/48, OBPM, DBPM, BPM, or VORP. In his illustrious playoff career, the only one of those stats he ever led the postseason in was WS, and that was in 2001.
Kobe retired a long time ago. This is just some guy wearing a Kobe jersey. To be fair, it wouldn't have been such an embarrassing exit had he not been paid such a ridiculous amount this season. Not blaming him for taking the money, it was payback for everything else he did for the Lakers in the last 20 years. But he has been terrible for a few season now, and he could have been helping the Lakers rebuild and gone out with a good team had he perhaps allowed the team more salary to build. Maybe they wouldn't have got anyone, but his salary definitely hurt their chances.
He was done 2 seasons ago Anyway now that his career is over we can rank him amongst all time greats I have him outside the top 10 and that's not even close. People here may argue otherwise but Kobrick IMO is not a top 10 player in NBA history
I was kind of hoping kirby would play for at least the remainder of his contract. Or maybe at least until 40 yo.
Wonder what he does post career? He said coaching is out, he'll be in demand for a broadcasting job but from what I've seen of him I don't think he has the personality for it.
