Rush announced their R40 (40th anniversary) tour dates in the US yesterday and already on pre-sale today for a lot of locations.

RUSH Announce R40 Live 40TH Anniversary Tour

RUSH TO VISIT 34 CITIES THROUGHOUT NORTH AMERICA IN 2015

Celebrating 40 years, Rush and Live Nation confirmed that the R40 LIVE Tour will visit 34 cities throughout North America this summer beginning May 8 in Tulsa, OK and finishing August 1 in Los Angeles, CA. These not to be missed concerts will highlight four decades of the band’s music.

It could be their last tour. They were touting it as their last major tour anyway. So, I splurged a little on seats and got the Gold VIP seats at $400 a pop. It's tough even finding seats with that option on Ticketmaster. It took me about an hour but best I was able to land was 10th row floor on Alex's side in the middle seats of the section. I only found tickets on one other search that I released that were 5th row but I felt were too far to the left (on the edge) for my tastes. So, I'm pretty happy with the seats I landed. They could have been a little better imo but that's a really good vantage point I think.

Anyway, the tour dates in Texas are:

May 16, 2015 Austin Austin360 Amphitheater On Sale Soon
May 18, 2015 Dallas American Airlines Center On sale January 30, 2015 (regular sale date...not pre-sale)
May 20, 2015 Houston The Toyota Center On sale January 30, 2015 (regular sale date...not pre-sale)

I like that Texas is getting them early in the tour before the band kind of gets into the routine. The Austin show is five dates into the tour. I will be at the Dallas show.

This is a tour with no new album and is supposed to be a fan's tour with music spanning their entire career.

I CAN'T WAIT! IT COULD BE THE LAST RUSH TOUR! I HOPE NOT!

    FULL LIST OF TOUR DATES:

Bumping this since tickets go on sale in less than an hour, unless you got presale this week. I picked up floor seats in Section D for only $181!!

Isn't that pretty much the rumor every single time? I know people were saying that when I went to the Test for Echo tour.

Sixth row for the Austin show. Still regret missing them last time they swung through Texas. Can't wait.

They weren't 60+ years old then. But, I may have misspoke as what was implied was the last major tour. But, I don't consider 34 cities in the US and Canada a major tour. A major tour would be if they took it overseas. One never knows...they could always tour and just hit a few key cities like some older bands have been doing. Neil has been threatening the "last tour" since forever. He really made a stink just a month ago before this tour was announced that "how does he tell his five year old daughter Olivia that she won't see him for a while because he's touring?". I guess he found a way.

The big thing is how much longer Neil can do what he does on the drums at a high level. At some point, he is going to break down and have to call it a day. Why they would want to wait on that to happen versus go out on top...who knows?

I still think they have more music to make personally. On the one hand, I'm kind of disappointed they are touring with no new music. But, on the other hand, I'm kind of glad because it means they won't take up the set list playing all new stuff and hit on more classic stuff.

The good thing is we don't have to spoil the set list ahead of time. We can hold out since we are early in the tour. Normally, I would have to take a peak at the set list.

Yep, going to try and stay away from the set list spoliers this time. I wonder if they will rotate in a different song or 2 each show like last time?

Ah hopefully there will be $50 tickets left by tomorrow. Anyone know any possible places the band or at least Lee and Lifeson would hang out in Houston before the show or perhaps the day before or after (since they are not touring on back to backs this year)

I would bet cash money on seeing Geddy at the Astros day game vs the A's on the day of the show. Alex at scrip club? :p
