I cringed at the notion of how Yao would receive that kind of offer, but I agree with you as well. Non-guaranteed, have some clause in there where if he plays x amount of games, he can get a guaranteed full blown deal the year after. Have it laden with incentives and just hope he gets his pay day (again), this time with a ring.

I'm not sure how to react to McHale being the front runner, but if he's a no b.s kind of coach like he seems, I wouldn't mind having him on our bench.

He might have the right idea but
Unless YAO been on crack since his injury . . .no way in hell he accepts
    that type of deal.

Interesting, I wonder how big a non-guaranteed contract can be?

If McHale is hired, it will be because he knows his opinion does NOT carry any weight, and it will be understood as a condition of his hiring. This organization doesn't want any input from their head coach. That's why you have guys like John Lucas, Sam Cassell, (Kevin McHale) and Mario Elie getting interviews. You really think the organization gives 2 sh!ts about what McHale's opinion on Yao is?

I say veteran's minimum, just in case some other team signs him up then he magically recovers & stays healthy for a few years, lol

Every GM in the league will offer Yao a non-guarantee, are you kidding me.
The bad news is some of those GMs will offer Yao guarantee.

How about a non-guaranteed contract for Kevin McHale in case he sucks at coaching. He gets no pay if the team failed to make the Playoffs and he gets pay if the team made it plus BONUSES for going deeper into the Playoffs.

There is no guaranteed he's going to be a good coach just as there is no guaranteed if Yao is going to be healthy...right? Let's see how Kevin McHale feel about this? Disrespectful?? Yea...that's what i thought!lol

I agree with all all except for the 'disrespectful' part. There is no respect to K-Mc.

I think you're wrong. They want a coach who understands the long term plan, is on board with the direction, and willing to adjust on the fly. A coach who is a former GM understands this need at all levels.

Resulting in a coach whose input is valued, is willing to work with a roster in flux, integrating newly acquired players, developing young players, and (hopefully) winning while doing it.
