Win Win Situation. We either get 14th pick or #2 Seed.

What would you prefer?

  1. 18th Pick + #2 Seed vs. Mavs in the first round (+guaranteed HCA against Spurs(?) in 2nd round)

    231 vote(s)
    78.6%
  2. 14th Pick + #5 Seed vs. Blazers in the first round (+no home court against GSW in the second round)

    60 vote(s)
    20.4%
  3. Some other scenario where Clippers lose or Rockets lose (which seems highly unlikely)

    3 vote(s)
    1.0%

If we take care of business on Wednesday by beating Utah (and assuming OKC beats Minnesota), it seems like we will either get #2 seed or 14th pick depending on the outcome of Spurs vs. Pelicans. I don't think that is bad at all.

(again assuming Rockets beat Utah, and OKC beats Minnesota)
    If Spurs beat Pelicans
Rockets get 14th pick + face injury-plagued Portland in the first round.

    If Pelicans beat Spurs
Rockets likely get 18th pick + face Mavs in the first round.

    What would you prefer?

Agreed, but I must admit that the alternative is not looking so bad either.

Why? Portland may be an easier matchup than the Mavs.

Does either a win or loss to the Pelicans affect the Spurs' standing?

If we get #2 seed, we would also be guaranteed home court if we advance to 2nd round of playoffs.

But what happens if the Clippers win against PHX with SA losing? dont they have the tie breaker against us making us the 3rd seed

I'll take 2nd seed and division because that belongs to the beard. forget a draft pick - ain't no rookie going to come in a make an impact. especially with KJ here and Capela coming off the bench.

we only get the #2 seed if LAC loses their last game (they won't)

Yes. If they lose, they can drop as low as 5 or 6.

Saw that. I still believe we are good enough to take care of Jazz on our home court with Dwight playing, but I agree that we shouldn't treat it as an automatic win especially given the history of how we closed out the seasons in the past.

If Spurs lose (and we beat Utah), we would get #2 seed regardless of LAC's loss or win in its season finale since we would be the division winner.

Call me a pessimists, but I don't think that matters all that much against the Spurs. They have our number.

We lose, we get 6th seed.

We win, Spurs win, we get 5th seed with homecourt

We win, Spurs lose, we get 2nd seed

So you think we have a better shot against GSW in the 2nd round with no home court than against Spurs with the home court?

Not true, we are depending on a Spurs loss and a victory over the Jazz. Our division winner with the same record as the Clippers gets the tie breaker. Atleast with seeding, not sure what would happen as far as homecourt in the second round.

hmm...i want the #2 and division title, mainly because of home court advantage in the 1st and 2nd rounds but:

    1) Getting the #14 > #18 (obvi)
    2) If we're 5 seed, we still have home court advantage vs Portland (but not likely in 2nd round)
    3) Portland or Mavs... both have +/- ; normally i'd say we match up against the mavs better but portland is suffering some injuries and revenge is sweet! (assuming Rockets win)
    4) We'd prob face either Spurs or GWS in the second round. Pick your poison. (lose Home Court)

Either option has ups and downs. Morey is also a wizard at draft picks so maybe 18 for him is as good as 14 for someone else picking? --obviously pure speculation.

I'll have to go with the #2 seed and feel confident Morey will get a steal at 18 anyways (or package it up)
