I honestly don't see TJ Yates as the QB for the future. From what I saw he had an average arm, made bad reads, and would just chunk it up to the secondary and hope Andre would come down with it from time to time. He still has time, but I don't see him being more then a game manager. The Texans offense didn't look as smooth with Yates behind center then it did with Schaub.
Yates was a rookie QB. What you expect? Plus keep in the mind Andre Johnson missed half of the games Yates played in as well.

This post of full of fail.

I say this because the Texans have Arian Foster, Andre Johnson, and a great offensive line and an elite defense backing him up. It's not like he had to come in and take over the Browns offense. Other rookie QB's could come into this situation and do pretty well. I just don't think Yates has that much potential.

He exceeded expectations, but that doesn't say much, there were none. If we're aiming for a Superbowl, its in the next couple years. We can't wait around for Yates to develop while Johnson and Foster go through their prime.

Garbage Article. Period....
Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin iii better than Schaub? These guys have not played a single game in the NFL. They are better than a guy who led the league in passing couple of years ago. Who cares what they did in college , for every Peyton Manning there is a Ryan Leaf , Tim Couch and Vince Young. Throw in Matt Leinart in that discussion as well. The Texans have nothing to worry about right now as long as Schaub stays healthy they are good. Even if they give him an extension, NFL contracts are non guaranteed so they can cut him if they need to. Contracts are not that big of a deal in the NFL, you can always cut a player if needed. Worst case they could trade him for a second or third round pick.

A lot depends on how healthy and for how long the Texans believe Schaub will be. Also, does Yates progress and can Case Keenum show the coaches that he is a reasonable option.

Schaub better not get hurt. Yates will surely improve and get better, but this team is ready for the big show now! . . .only lost to Ravens by 7 dispite the very large amount of mistakes/turnovers, I'm still sore from that- If we didn't beat ourselves then on to N.E. in the AFC championship game & that might have been us in Indy...woulda, shoulda, coulda
Oh come on, Schaub has led the lead in passing yards and can throw for 300 yards regularly. He has also engineered many game tying or winning drives in clutch situations. He has one of the highest completion percentages and QB ratings ever and racks up yards.
In 2009 he led the team on his back. The team only had one less loss then in 2011, with 0 running game, and weak defense and multiple extremely close losses.
And who are you expecting to get other then Schaub? Schaub is more undervalued by Texans fans then he is from the rest of the league.

I like the he's made of glass crowd, always inured, blah blah blah.
Dude played 42 straight until fatass striped in his foot. Which is 100% healed folks.
this team is ready to win it all now & i have no confidence at all that schaub will make through the regular season healthy.
Kubiak is way too loyal. He will find a way to keep Schaub. But I agree with you. If Brees is on the market next spring the Texans should be first in line.

Well, yeah if he's available. This guy thinks Rick can call him tonight and sign him
Yates isn't better than Schaub, but he could become better than Schaub given seasoning. Only problem is this team is built to win now.
Andre is the only one even close to win now mode. Of course Kubiak has to keep winning to keep his job, but there's only 6/22 starters between 30-31. Except for upcoming cap issues, this team is built for prolonged viability/success. Can it last the entire development period of a QB? Maybe that's pushing it.

And the only other time he missed considerable time was when Jaren Allen threw a cheap shot at his knee, which would have injured 99.9% of anybody else in the league (.1% being AJ)
