Recap starting at 9:12. 1. Seems like Yao is taking it to another level. Morey says...he was upset that Yao missed a shot in the denver game...says that Yao is carrying the team through the period while the team is banged up. 2. Time to sit Tmac and Ron, this is the time to do it, did the schedule have any thought in this process? Morey - the injuries dictated it....especially with Ron,.....with Tracy he finally felt good enough to go through a full training regiment..... 3. Sounds like Tmac is on the road to recovery, is he full strength, what about Ron's progress? Morey - we will know more about Ron this morning....after the scan....Ron feels great, he wants to be out there now, but the team wants to make sure the bone bruiese is good before htey let him back out there. 4. State of the union - are you pretty pleased based upon everything. Morey - short of where we want to be if everyone is healthy, not in the elite teams yet.....but we have not dug ourselves too deep a hole and are right in the mix, and if we take care of business should be set up well to get home court and hopefully deeper in the playoffs than in the past. 5. Who has stepped up? Morey - Ocho Textos favorite player Von has really stepped up, would have been hard to predict this production, he has added to his game, passing, defensively and attacking the hoop in transition. But to be Frank....when Tmac and Ron are out....EVERYONE had to step up....Battier, Barry, Aaron Brooks, Carl Landry, Luis...great effort every night......Rafer the last few games has been penetrating well too. 6. Talk about the Jazz matchup, no boozer, but Milsap and Okur have stepped up. Morey - We need to play well, they are going to be a tough matchup, they are only short Boozer now, but AK might have hurt his ankle last night....they have Millsap back...their own version of Von Wafer....a guy who is a role player who is playing like a top player...Okur bombs from 3...and Dwill is a very good player..... 7. Compare and contrast CP3 and Dwill Morey - Can't go wrong with either...DWill better shooter and more size, but CP3 is a superiour in all other aspects of the game. 8. Let's talk Scola - 2nd year in the NBA......Numbers close to last years. Where has he improved. Morey - He is really continued to improve defensively, and has helped a lot on Defensive rebounding....want him to get more to using his ability in transition, he is one of the best transition bigs in the world. 9. Ocho Texto on - says he will be at the game due to winning a trivia contest about Von Wafer...says he wants to introduce himself, have some milk and cookies and discuss trade ideas for Rafer. Morey - handshake ok....no cake products, everything else is unecessary....lol 10. Aaron Brooks - what is the latest, some nights he is great, some not so well, what about him in year 2? Morey - The biggest key is that he stays aggressive, even if he turns it over or misses a shot or two...especially wiht Tmac and Ron out...stay aggressive and don't hang his head...sometimes he has a tendency to lose his aggressiveness...they want him to stay aggressive no matter what. 11. Let's talk college ball.....Henderson at Duke. Morey - Can't talk about prospects.....don't get me in trouble Andre..... 12. Carl Landry - Look at him and give me one item he needs to improve on... Morey - A big item, he needs to learn defense, where he needs to be, says the Refs don't give him the benefit of the doubt......the other 2 things they are working on is to get him a basic move in the post...he has a good face up, going right, they are working on a counter move where he spins back left. They think his ceiling is very high...can be a top 10-15 big in the league if he continues to work. 13. Boston - What happened to them, why did they struggle. Morey - similar to the Rockets funk after winning 22 in a row last year...played guys longer than they needed to to keep streak alive...post streak malaise... 14. Guys not having time to work on their games during the season....but Von Wafer works out alone alot. Getting time to improve on their own. Morey - We have quite a few guys who work on their own, Shane, Ron, Von.....and the assistant coaches will work with them on the court or in video to continue to improve...Carl for example can learn post defense from Chuck etc....the team invests a lot in that area.... 15. Thanks for the recap. Morey interviews are always good to hear/read about. Hopefully he'll have some more good things to say after tonight's game.
