I know it's still the first phase but thought I might as well get a thread started for this season.

Games scheduled for Wednesday, September 30:

12:30 ET CSKA Moscow v Besiktas
14:45 ET AC Milan v FC Zürich
14:45 ET Bordeaux v Maccabi Haifa
14:45 ET Bayern Munich v Juventus
14:45 ET FC Porto v Atlético Madrid
14:45 ET Real Madrid v Marseille
14:45 ET Apoel Nicosia v Chelsea
14:45 ET Manchester United v VfL Wolfsburg Group B

Group G with Sevilla FC is a cakewalk. How did that happen?

    ---

Anyone have any thoughts on the premier league big 5 so far?

    Arsenal:
Fabregas hasn't been playing close to his potential. You always hear about transfer speculation with him but he's been extremely passive in terms of what he's capable of. He made a great pass to Van Persie for the goal against Fulham and a deft pass to Eduardo who set up VP against Olympiakos... but he looks bored out there and has missed tons of opportunities this season.

Arshavin is dangerous but has a lead foot at times, he needs to dribble consistently without giving the ball away. That would really make him a nightmare with his low center of gravity. Waiting to see them at full strength with Nasri and Walcott...

    Liverpool:
Look like a 2 man team at the moment - Gerrard and Torres. They have a lot of holes that a weak schedule hasn't exposed yet (although they lost to Fiorentina yesterday).

    Chelsea / Man U / Man City:
As of now I'd say one of these three are the favorites to win the premier league. Good health will be the decisive factor in separating these teams.

I'll be at Bayern-Juventus tonight. Should be an interesting match. I predict a Bayern victory.

And for some reason, Liverpool always seems to do well in the CL, regardless of what they're doing domestically.

Manchester city is looking really good this season. They have a good chance of wining the premiership.

Was watching liverpool game last weekend, Gerrard had one of the prettiest goals I've seen in a while.

    will look for youtube clip.

I am a Liverpool fan too, I wouldn't be worried yet... we have been in worse positions than this in the group stage and got out of it. Very up and down start to the season, just hope we can beat Chelsea away, it would more than make up for the CL loss.

Sorry to do double post. On Man City I could nearly hate them as much as Man U but regardless of that they do look good, more than likely will take Arsenals CL spot next season. Very much doubt they will with the premiership... just don't have the depth of Man U, Chelsea or Liverpool.

As bad as Liverpool have been they are only one game off top spot and the massive amount of goals they are scoring means they will likely beat anyone on GD if the trend continues. Man U have just stayed under the radar... nothing flashy, in fact I have hardly noticed them yet there they are sitting on top, Chelsea have looked very good and very bad... it is all shaping up to be one of the best seasons for a while.

    Bump...

    Round of 16 starts today...

    AC Milan vs. Manchester United

    Olympique Lyonnais vs. Real Madrid

    Wednesday, February 17, 2010

    FC Porto vs. Arsenal

    Bayern München vs. Fiorentina

    Tuesday, February 23, 2010

    VfB Stuttgart vs. Barcelona

    Olympiacos vs. Bordeaux

    Wednesday, February 24, 2010

    CSKA Moscow vs. Sevilla

For some odd reason, FSC chose to show the Lyon vs. Real Madrid game live today and tape delayed the ManU vs. AC Milan. Me thinks they got that one backwards.

Lyon vs Real looks to be shaping up as a great game.

    Nil nil at halftime.

Ronny, you posted this thread prematurely -- this seems to be an ongoing problem for you.

    doesn't look good for real

anyone want to see a barca vs manU again in finals?

IMHO the last finals was weak, I don't think manU showed up at all. If it's a replay I wouldn't care for it unless both of them are playing their 'A'-game

ManU absolutely didn't show up in the finals. Not sure what the reason was behind that. They played one of, if not the worst game of their season that night.

Yesterday was a great win @ Milan. Got down quickly, but they fought back and scored a great road win.

Doesn't bother me at all to see Real Madrid go down again. I'd love to see ManU and Barca in the final again.
