Lakers agree to terms w/ reserve SG Jodie Meeks on a 2-year deal for about $3 mill. 2nd yr is team option. Meeks is 37% career 3-pt shooter.

And the cheap role players start lining up for their chance at rings.

Of course! They need a backup shooting guard. Unfortunately Richardson made a bit too much money when they were swapping Bynum and Howard so he had to be sent elsewhere....

What do you think of Lakers going after Kenyon Martin? Do you think they could use him because if I was the Lakers I wouldn't want to be too reliable on Jordan Hill.

They have Antawn Jamison, so presumably the would use a pf rotation of Gasol and Jamison and a center rotation of Howard and Gasol, with Hill filling in while Howard is injured. Right now their biggest need is a 3point shooting shooting guard/small forward of the bench. Kobe, despite his reputation, is not that good of a 3point shooter, and Metta has lost his touch. Obviously they have Nash, but Howard needs to be surrounded by shooting at all times to spread the floor, and Devin Ebanks won't cut it.

Real good signing for the Lakers. Meeks is a guy who can score for the Lakers for that 3-5 minute stretch in the begininng of the 2nd and 4th quarters when most teams have their backups in.

Great pick-up for the Lakers. I still can't believe they got Dwight while keeping Pau Gasol. I know, wrong thread, sorry for talking about he-who-should-not-be-mentioned, but damn. I still can't believe it.

    Plus, Steve Nash.
