What happened to him? As far as I know he's not injured but he cant seem to get any playing time. He's a guy I wish we could've acquired a few years ago and is still on his rookie contract.
There are two possible explanations: 1) There is no possible way that Green is worse than some of the guys getting minutes ahead of him. Therefore, the Wolves aren't playing him because they don't want him to "break out" -- if he did, the team would have to bid when resigning him this summer. They learned from having Marcus Banks log heavy minutes with them only to watch the Suns snatch the guy from them. (As if anyone would want Marcus on their team, esp. since he is an uncoachable oversensitive girl with an annoying dad). 2) Green really is that bad so as not to deserve minutes. I tend towards this explanation. He has no first step, can't dribble for someone at his position, and is otherwise useless -- he can shoot, but having no knowledge of five-on-five basketball is always in the wrong spot.
How about a Snyder for Green swap. Minnesota is 3-20 and he doesn't play, what the hell do they care? Garbage in, garbage out.
It might not. Worst case scenario is it's disappointing expiring contract for disappointing expiring contract. Both play the same position so it's basically a lateral move. Green is a Houston product and it gives both players a "fresh" start. If neither Snyder nor Green are going to play with their current teams why not try a swap in the "see if it sticks" mentality. Who knows what could happen?
even though green is regarded as a poor defender. it gives the rockets the option of putting a player on josh howard where he is forced to shoot over someone. green is 6-8.
Snyder has had about 3 fresh starts already, now what could Minny see in him? Gerald, guy is literally damaged goods, I doubt he'll ever have a reliable jumper. Sorry, but I'm not a proponent for nothing for nothing trades just to see what happens. What's gonna happen is that both will sit on the bench for whatever team they are on, why would anyone think they would get significant minutes after traded? Why don't we trade Novak for Chris Richard?
having 2 inches on snyder makes him a better defensive option? Even though you admitted he's a poor defender? You really think Adelman would put Green in just to defend the Josh Howards of the world? The guy seems like a Reece Gaines type, in that he has some bball talent and has physical attributes (he's tall) but can't translate them on the court. (I'm not comparing Reece and Green's exact games, just their similar paths in the NBA).
Having Richard and Landry would be kind of redundant. Although, Novak will probably never play so just hearing that somebody is even remotely interested in him would be promising. A nothing for nothing trade doesn't hurt you. If both teams have the same opinion of a player and wish to move them, why not? I understand that our problems are elsewhere but I don't see how a move like that hurts you.
I doubt GMs go calling around to other GMs just to see what nothing for nothing trades they can do. Trades happen to make one's team better or to help financially. If Green can't get minutes in a sorry team like Minny for whatever reason, I doubt he'll suddenly break out in another team.
not at all. i was thinking of luther getting abused by josh when i posted that. craig smith and ryan gomes are also expiring contracts. they're much further along than green and have been named as guys minny are hoping to re-sign. it's understandable why green isn't getting minutes.
Yeah - I was trying to be 'smart' - maybe if I'd had a few more question marks (?????) it might have made it seem that I was a fresh faced young enthusiast who couldn't wait for the big splash of a Novak/ Richards trade. Jackie Butler for anyone...
mike james couldnt get any minutes in minny either and they still managed to sucker the rockets into eating his contract
yeah I caught that too, I was suprised not many people have mentioned it on this thread. Basically in a game with pure up and down offense against GS he shot well, 6-13 18 points in 29 minutes. 5 fouls tho, shows he struggles on defense.
