I definitely noticed Nashpatch wearing road whites the other night on MNF. According to Nashpatch owner Tommy Smith, we've seen the last of the baby blue jerseys. https://twitter.com/PaulKuharskyNFL/status/534495647588974593
Even at this juncture and with whatever brand value the 'Texans' have, I would still love to take back the Oilers name, logos, etc... I know that Bud Adams wouldn't sell, but I wonder if whoever is in charge now would consider it.
Yeah now that BeezleBud has gone back home I'm sure the Oilers history could be purchased, the question is how much would it cost and do the Texans even want it?
Remember when the Oilers went with the white-on-white uni combo full-time while they were in purgatory (Houston-Memphis-Nashville)? I used to hate that so much... sigh, the Oilers. Spoiler I used to hate that uniform combo so much... I might have partially associated it with losing the team.
No way McNair even inquires about it. The Texans are HIS team - the team he started from scratch. Why would he want to re-brand them back to Bud's team? It would be fun to maybe have a 'throwback' day when we could dawn the old uni's just for fun, though. Of course, that could never happen either.
Oh, I completely agree. He made it clear when he bought the team that he wanted it distanced from the baggage of the Oilers. That was closer in time to the fiasco of their move...and Bud Adams...of course. But I'd love it.
I wouldn't mind taking home the Oilers history. Whatever happened in Nashville, they can keep. They can put up some ring of honor **** for the Campbell's and Matthews and Moons and Munchaks and Howfields
I don't think we will ever get the oilers history. We might find ourselves in the same position the bobcats were in. New ownership and a lame duck franchise. Whoever owns the Titans would have to give us permission to take the colors/logo of the Oilers. We would NEVER get the history.
Well it could be bought though, Bud Adams would never sell it, but the new owner has no ties to the Oilers so why wouldn't they want to make an extra buck?
Buy the rights to the name and colors and have a throwback day once a season. Too many bad memories and bridges burned to go back full time to the the oiler name and colors. If the Texans bought the rights to the name and colors they could put the retired oilers jerseys in the rafters at nrg stadium and celebrate Houstons football history. Nashville has no connection to those players and history. As a Houston fan I would love something like I just described.
