I personally think the game speed is fine as is. But everyone wants to speed it up for some reason.

If these percentages are correct, it's actually kind of strange that Morey is supporting this change because it would actually decrease the value of going to the free throw line. In the current system (2 or 3 free throws worth 1 point each), the expected value of a trip to the line on a fouled 2-point shot attempt or non-shooting foul is 1.52 points (57.8% making both shots, 36.5% making one shot, 5.7% missing both). The expected value of a trip to the line on a fouled 3-point shot attempt is 2.54 points (60.3% making all three, 33.4% making 2, 5.9% making 1, 0.3% missing all 3). In the proposed system (one free throw worth 2 or 3 points, depending on the foul), the expected value of a trip to the line on a fouled 2-point shot attempt or non-shooting foul falls to 1.48 points (73.9% making the shot worth 2 points, 26.1% missing), and the expected value of a fouled 3-point shot attempt falls to 2.38 points (79.4% making the shot worth 3 points, 20.6% missing).
