The poll I post above does not nearly reflect all the good canidates. I know I forgot people. These are guys coming off the top of my head, and I'm sure almost everyone has a guy they think should be up there. So please, post your choice here.

Remember, I'm not talking about creating your own shot. I'm talking about a wide open shot.

I had a tough time voting on this one. I think those top 3 especially are deserving. I ended up going with Kerr, since he does lead all-time in 3p%.

Hmm... I forgot about the late Drazen Petrovic... how much does that whole deal suck... forget Bobby Phills, how about Petrovic? All NBA Third team, then... dead.

I voted for Dale Ellis. Dell Curry came to mind.

I would say that Chris Mullin is. I've seen him workout and his shot is amazing. He was hitting jumpers none stop. I counted his made shots and misses, and he hit about 190 out of 200 jump shots. It was amazing.

    Yeah, forgot about Del Curry.

I'm not surprised that Chris Mullin was making 190 out of 200 shots in practice. I've heard that Bird used to make 100 in a row sometimes.

I just remember it being really funny this year... in the Lakers-Blazers series Phil Jackson almost looked like he was wetting himself every time Kerr came in. You could tell he had given the Lakers very specific instructions to not let Kerr shoot. It was hilarious watching one, sometimes two guys chasing after Steve like he was averaging 30 points. I guess you can't blame Jackson, though. After all, he did coach Kerr when he led the league in 3 point % (twice) and set the record for a season.

I can't remember which game it was, but it was the 4th quarter, and Cheeks put Kerr in... I knew he would get at least one open look... he did, and drained it. At first I wondered why (Wells?) had passed up a perfectly open 3... then I saw he was passing to Steve. I knew he would make it as soon as he touched the ball.

He can't do anything else, but giving Kerr a wide open 3 is death.

    Larry Bird

I remember watching Rudy T. practice when he was coming back from the Kermit Washington tragedy. He was still on the injured list. It was about 2 hours before the game at the Summit. Rudy was out there for about 45 minutes to an hour taking nothing but jumpers. I didn't count them (had to be at least 100) but I did count the misses. He missed 7 shots!!! He was shooting from everywhere, baseline, top of the key, 15 footers. Amazing display of shot making. Rudy was a hell of a player, played D, rebounded and could shoot lights out.

That 1970 Rocket draft was a heckuva good one: Rudy T (taken number 2) and Calvin Murphy at the top of Round Two. Guess who the Rox picked in Round Seven? Billy Paultz!

Mullin is probably the best. Bird was probably second. Bird was unstoppable because of the arc. He effectively made the basket bigger. Mullin wouldn't even hit the rim. Both guys put on displays as basketball camps that weren't even real.

I supposed Mullin or Miller would be my winner. However, I think Chuck Person has to be added......Craig Hodges was also very good. Rex Chapman was impressive.

    Others:

    Abdul-Rauf
    Dana Baros
    Del Curry

Mobley can be a potentially dealy spot up shooter.

    wide open shots??/

    are you kidding.

    Larry Bird

imo, only Reggie has a chance to beat him in a shooting contest.

i agree that Drazen should definitely be on the list.

I agree with Bob*, the list is favoring the players who had more wide open shots. Big time scorers who rarely had open looks like McGinnis, Rudy and Kiki would not miss open shots.

Jeff Hornaceck- though Reggie Miller and Larry Bird, possibly Chris Mullin may all be a bit sharper, i'll never forget how effective Hornaceck was when he played 4 the Jazz...

Any one of those guys from the old Chicago Bulls teams would work for me. Steve Kerr would be my 1st choice and coming in at a close 2nd would be Craig Hodges, he was just a great shooter.
