According to DVOA ratings, Texans are ranked 21st in the league. Offense is ranked 19th. Defense is ranked 13h ST is ranked 27 (I assume poor starting field position has screwed Texans over in this category)
Warren Sapp just picked Von Miller as his midsession DPOY. Makes sense, I mean he does have 2 more sacks than JJ. That's all that matters on Defense, right?
JJ Watt, holy crap. Is there a game where he hasn't been on top? Swearinger....he's a fan favorite and a fun character, which the Texans always need....but man....he's killing us on the field....
Swearinger seemed to start the year out well. He had trouble covering but he seemed to be making plays. But that playmaking ability seems to have slacked and now he is a liability.
The problem with fumbles and playmaking is that it is not something you can consistently rely on...we were getting pretty fortunate at the beginning of the year, but then when you get into a slump with that...the defense goes from bend but dont break mode...to bend and bend some more mode. Swearinger needs to be consistently causing turnovers to justify having him on the field on a regular basis. If he's not doing that, then he's more of a liability than anything else. Damn, this team has so many positions that need upgrading.
But we knew that, OB knew that, at the beginning of the year. It's not a surprise. Coaches just need to focus on getting the best they can out if every player.
Its a little silly to give Watt a negativve pass rushing grade since he took away a whole side of the field when they ran. Other than that. Good stuff
Bump. Interesting to see the final grades for the Texans when they get released. I am guessing Newton might just be the highest graded lineman. Watt goes over 100. Cushing with one of the worst grades on the defense. In addition, the defense would be negative without JJ Watt's grade, easily.
Really? I'm looking at the last few weeks that were posted on this thread, and Cushing had positive grades. He definitely had a down year, but the worst grade on the team for the season? Not even close.
