White is afraid to confront his anxiety. It is part of his disorder, actually. He knows that if he sees a real mental health expert, they will try to encourage him to face his fears. He would rather rely on his old PCP who will say that White should be able to take the bus to avoid anxiety rather than facing his fears. He is engaging in classic avoidance behavior and is almost smart enough to get away with it.

I don't think the Rockets knew how much hand-holding was going to be needed. To be fair to the Rockets, he really played it down before the draft. Maybe he hoped it wasn't going to be bad either. But Rox are employers, this isn't his college anymore where his needs are catered to cause he's a student. He's an employee w/ a contract burdening him w/ contractual obligations.

Keep in mind that he is in treatment, he prefers to keep going to the same one he's had for years, and that's understandable.

Royce, for God's sake shut up; take a leave of absence without pay and come back when you feel better.

You're making yourself seem like charlie sheen and you don't want that when you feel better.

Nailed it.....there's a saying in the mental health profession. Never work harder than the client. If the client/patient doesn't show up, the issue isn't the disorder....it's the motivation to change and grow.(Unless you're dealing with an Axis I or II - Personality disorder)

Can't heal from an issue unless you want to work on yourself as opposed to trying to change others or your environment.

It's not working. If this guy's anxiety is so great that he needs to charter his own bus, he should make the effort to see the Rox mental health people.

What do the Rockets and Bull really gain by saying anything? The man is ill and he is showing us just how ill he really is. He pissed about going to the RGV and does not have any coping skills.

    Look what Bullard tweeted:

    ClutchFans.net @clutchfans

Per @bull50, Rockets have "set up mental health appointments for Royce every single day since he's been here" and he hasn't been to one yet.

interesting. Seems like the rockets are trying to help him...but if he won't help himself.... I hope they can work it out, he goes to the D-League, finds some kind of comfort zone and then comes back. I think its too early to give up on him. We can't trade him, so might as well keep him and try to make the best of it.

It feels like Eddie Griffin all over again.

Rockets rolled the dice on Griffin. Spent high picks. Lots of potential. But he never seemed right. Always troubled. Personal issues, alcoholism etc.

Atleast Griffin played a bunch of games for the Rockets.

That was based on an article posted here awhile back. He said that he only trusts his old family Dr. The article was about trust, etc. if someone remembers it.

At this point, I'm under the impression that he played it down because the higher you are drafted, the more money you get on your rookie scale contract. So everyone in the draft is already incentivized to play down injuries, disorders, immaturity, etc.

Where are all the Morey supporters, this is on him. We couldn't have traded up and selected the PG from Portland. Wow, this is ridiculous.

And the Rockets still went down the same road. Les should have known better.

I don't think the Rockets have any issues with his Doctors but just like any company they may want you to see their doctor as well for the teams own needs. This is a two way street between an employee and an employer.

I don't know what it is. He has mentioned OCD but I have not heard of any specific symptoms. I have heard social phobia, fear of heights, Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Whatever the anxiety disorder, avoidance is at its core, as it is for all anxiety disorders.
