[Woj] Mavericks, Rockets have discussed Rajon Rondo trade

As time progressed with the Houston-Boston talks, there was a sense within the Celtics that Houston was simply trying to drive the price up on a deal for the Mavericks, sources said.

Papa, Canaan, D-Mo were still young players with upside. They were either going to get better or not.

If you heard the news it seems like mavricks got rondo which is the only cruddy part. I'm glad we didn't get rondo though. Harden and him wouldn't of mixed well. Harden needs the ball slot like Kobe and that would of been a problem because rondo can't score consistently. It would of been a bad trade for us. We need a point guard who has fire power along with good passes and offensive awareness. Even deron Williams is more ideal then rondo. I'm still hoping we land a solid power forward.

 

James Harden is going to die from fatigue.

 

Rockets need to get healthy and stay consistent. The guys that have came back from injury look really out of rhythm.

I didn't want Rondo at all. Been saying that all along. But if you purely look at what he brings to the court, it's silly to argue the Rockets wouldn't improve a lot.

 

They probably wanted our N.O pick and Dmo. Which is too much from us.

The fact that Dallas got Rondo for a pupu platter plus 2 picks, a package we could have easily topped, tells me that either:

1) We knew Rondo would not stay, and we did not want to part with assets only to end up with some cap space this summer
2) We are very confident in our alternatives, whether by trade or staying put

 

or 3, we never wanted him to begin with because he's a terrible fit with the team.

 

Rondo said he would resign with Houston or Dallas. Honestly, DMo had been playing well, they probably wanted him, and picks, and other filler. Either that or they feel Olynik can grow to play at a level higher than DMo making DMo not a good fit.
