[rQUOTEr]The Orlando Magic are close to firing coach Jacque Vaughn and a change could come soon, league sources told Yahoo Sports. As embarrassing losses accumulate, Vaughn is rapidly running out of time to show the progress needed to make it through the next several days – never mind the fourth and final year of his contract in 2015-16, league sources told Yahoo Sports. “It isn’t a matter of ‘if,’ anymore, but ‘when,' ” a source close to the decision-making process told Yahoo Sports about Vaughn’s fading job security. Vaughn will not be replaced before Orlando meets Dallas on Saturday at Amway Arena, but his job security beyond the start of the two-game trip to Oklahoma City and San Antonio beginning on Monday is uncertain, league sources told Yahoo Sports. In fact, the lack of a natural candidate to promote to interim head coach from a young, inexperienced staff of assistants has played a part in Orlando management’s hesitancy to have already made a change, sources told Yahoo Sports. https://sports.yahoo.com/news/source--magic-close-to-replacing-head-coach-vaughn-061740124.html[/rQUOTEr] [rQUOTEr]The Orlando Magic are on the verge of firing head coach Jacque Vaughn, according to league sources. After the Magic lost their seventh straight game Thursday night to fall to 15-34, one source close to the situation said the team's management has decided it will relieve Vaughn of his duties. The only question, according to the source, was how soon. It is likely the Magic will promote one of their assistant coaches to interim head coach, but several league executives have speculated that former Magic player Scott Skiles could be a front-runner for the job. Skiles played five of his 10 NBA seasons with the Magic, enjoying the best years of his career there. http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/1...ng-coach-jacque-vaughn-sources-say?src=mobile[/rQUOTEr]
Seemed they played had against HOU, but they are very talent-challenged. Might be a good coaching move... avoid hiring an experienced assistant to slow any mgt decision to fire you...
I think Brian Shaw is not far away being canned also. They played a horrible game on national TV last night and the players were just not motivated at all, even couple sound bites they showed on TV, Shaw was never yelling to them nor saying anything critical. This looks really bad.
I don't feel that talent is as much a problem with Orlando as it is coaching. They have good young talent. They don't have good coaching. They won't be a playoff team regardless but better coaching could have them closer to .500 imo.

skiles would be awful for them. he's a disciplinarian. they need a player developer. bring in a college coach or a d-league coach... someone that knows how to develop young talent. 3 years from now you bring in a disciplinarian to whip them into shape and win in the post season.
I've been following him ever since he played at Plymouth HS, Michigan State and the NBA. Scott Skiles is not fit to be an NBA coach. He doesn't have the personality for it. The guy is way too intense and just doesn't understand that 99% of people aren't wired the same way he is. Mark Jackson isn't the right guy either. They should finish out the season with one of their assistant coaches.
Surprising. I'll be honest, I haven't watched magic that much all season but the one game I watched them, he absolutely out coached and ran circles around McHale.
You're probably one of the few that know where Plymouth HS is. We're regulars at WalMart & Christy's when we visit the area each year. Even the locals, though they love him, think he's a competitive hard a$$.
Denver's owner openly issued a statement today mentioning the current status of the team is disappointing and not acceptable. Shaw's days in Denver is very limited. He could be fired before Vaughn also.
