I'm surprised that nobody has started a thread on today's Presidential Inauguration! It has gone very smoothly and by all accounts has been a smashing success! George W Bush delivered a very powerful speech and is ready to lead our country for 4 more years.

    Great Man.
    Great Day.
    Great Future.
    God Bless America.

    Kind of boring.

But mostly everything is, except for the state of the union (sometimes) and election returns.

But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished. He had won the victory over himself. He loved Big Brother.

I wish they would televise the parties they throw afterwards.

Man, now that's some good TV.

Well, there's all the sourpuss protesters out there. I'm still waiting for a screenshot of a group of protesters without at least one nose ring or green haired person in the picture. You lost. Go home.

It is extremely ironic that this joke of a president is calling for liberty and freedom for the world with the largest security detail in US history watching over him.

    Very funny!

bigtexx.. I was surprised no one started a thread earlier either.

I'm enjoying watching the parade at the moment. As a Bush supporter, it is good to see this day take place after a long fought election etc.

mc mark. I'm pretty sure no matter who the president was he'd have the largest security detail in history watching over him. especially post 9-11.

In fact most of the inaguration plans were probably made before they even knew who was going to win election.

Not quite sure what his security detail has to do with whether or not he can call for liberty?

It might have to do with the irony of Bush calling for liberty worldwide while it is being eroded right here in the good old USA.

Well enjoy your "great day." While you contemplate this lovely scene from Arlington. 1530 and counting!

rocketman. I won't get into a huge argument here, but no matter who the president was there would be a huge security detail..

When you have people throwing objects at cars you need a huge security detail..

Is that reason to cheer for you? You should be ashamed. Don't forget that your candidate voted for the war too!.....but of course not the money for the troops.

Re-read my post, and let me know when you understand it. It has little to do with today's ceremonies.

Today, as an old order passes, the new world is more free but less stable. Communism's collapse has called forth old animosities and new dangers. Clearly America must continue to lead the world we did so much to make.

Today, as an old order passes, the new world is more free but less stable. Communism's collapse has called forth old animosities and new dangers. Clearly America must continue to lead the world we did so much to make.

While America rebuilds at home, we will not shrink from the challenges, nor fail to seize the opportunities, of this new world. Together with our friends and allies, we will work to shape change, lest it engulf us.

When our vital interests are challenged, or the will and conscience of the international community is defied, we will act--with peaceful diplomacy when ever possible, with force when necessary. The brave Americans serving our nation today in the Persian Gulf, in Somalia, and wherever else they stand are testament to our resolve.

But our greatest strength is the power of our ideas, which are still new in many lands. Across the world, we see them embraced--and we rejoice. Our hopes, our hearts, our hands, are with those on every continent who are building democracy and freedom. Their cause is America's cause.

is this the passage you're referring to?
