Shooting percentages aside, I like the kid. Very aggressive scorer at the 1. I think they needed an extra scorer and this kid seems to fit the bill. He makes defenses pay for tilting too much in Melo's or Amare's vicinity. I think he'll improve as the season progresses.

Questionable shot selection early in possessions, but you gotta like his aggressive nature, defensive prowess, and jaw-dropping athleticism. At 6'5'' 225, his versatility's a major plus.

He's only 21, and once he overcomes these growing pains and becomes comfortable w/ his role in D'Antoni's system, he'll be a force.

Kid is definitely not a point guard, especially on this Knicks team with so many mouths to feed, but he can definitely stick in the league as long as he maintains his elite athleticism.

Wondering how he'd be if he improved his jump-shot/shot selection is a little like wondering what kind of player Ish Smith could be if he could drain 25 footers, or if Trevor Ariza could execute a crossover without dribbling it off of his foot, though...

5-20 late in the third, with 6 TOs and only 3 assist

Melo only has 11 shots on 6-11 shooting.

    He shoots way too much.

Knicks are just a mess. How does D'Antoni still have a job? They need to bring in a coach with a half court mentality. JVG would do wonders with this team...I will just enjoy the Knick losses in the meantime

At least they play in the east. Even a team this bad will make the playoffs

Yup but that's the reality. But there's always the possibility of a complete meltdown with glass superstars

Either the Knicks get Nash from Phoenix or they fire D'Antoni. That was a sorry effort from NY.

Shumpert and Fields are a lethal defensive combo to have for their back court. They are the perfect compliment Melo's lack of defense. Plus there is all the hope in the world their shot will only keep improving. Same goes for Chandler in the sense that he makes up for Stat's weaknesses in defense.

They need a proper bench. They only have Douglas as of now. Davis and JJ returning will help but it still wont be deep enough.

I agree, I used to think he was great, but now realizing he doesn't coach Defense at all so that is one part of it. On offense he says to just let em run and shoot within 10 seconds and run pick and rolls, basiclly street ball. That works beautifully when you have nash or a PG who can dictate that, but without it...well

what does he do exactly. And hes a genius to parlay that to a 10 million contrat as a coach just like tyson chandler is a genius for getting close to max money for a good playoff run(just like jerom james did). Tyson is a great roll guy in a winning team, but paying him max and trying to make him part of the big 3? I remember people here wanted him on our team for that money....they are screwed
