I HATE Republican ignorance. I hate Democratic ignorance as well. In fact, I hate all ignorance. I love tacos. Just gimme a taco.

Couldn't they still renew. I thought part of Obama care was you can't turn someone down because of pre-existing conditions?

Unfortunately I agree that something doesn't seem right with this story.

While losing insurance is a tough thing to do if it was just a matter of a missed renewal my understanding is that the insurance company will be willing to work on renewing if the deadline is missed as they want the business.

I had a situation a while ago where my insurance got cancelled because there was a mistake regarding my address. As a result I had a couple of months period where I didn't have insurance and I didn't know about it. Once I realized the situation BCBS of MN quickly renewed my insurance and even provided retroactive coverage for the months missed.

    This is pure fantasy.

You are not taking into account incidents like bankers allowing mexican drug cartels to launder money, promoting tax havens which end up starving poor people, funding wars, making people homeless, etc.

Hypothetical? That's cute. I wish it was just interest rate or foreclosure "scenarios" lol.

They have in fact set the precedent for non-state actors threatening violence, they just have way better vocabulary, spokespeople, marketers and psychologists working for them. The economic asphyxiation applied to Greece just a couple of weeks ago was a fantastic example.

You have a really low opinion of human beings and a very high one of fake "people". Just because a guy robbed a bank due to his circumstances doesn't mean people are just going to do it as a hobby going forward. You are an intelligent and mature person, I'm sure you don't really believe that. I think maybe I misunderstood that part of your post.

Lots of banks, particularly domestic ones in the United States, lack the capital or global reach to launder drug money, bankroll warlords or any of the other scenarios you're alluding to. Every business, family or individual relies on these institutions for operational funding, short term payroll, residential and educational lending. The "circumstances" under which anyone robs a bank are fairly straightforward, they want money in a short amount of time and are willing to leverage and ultimately act upon the threat of proximate, deadly violence to obtain it. The lack of a penal or legal deterrent for bank robbers, coupled with public sympathy towards them rather than banks would certainly increase the frequency of such acts and hamper a critical organ for allocating resources.
