Can anyone recommend a good knee specialist. I finally have some insurance and I think it's time to get this thing checked out. It's been almost 3 years since I first hurt it. I don't know if I have torn ligaments or not, but I do know there is something seriously wrong with it. It's constantly aching, it hurts when I run, and I cannot pivot hard with out it buckling and hurting like ****. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. My great comeback to basketball is nearing.
Each time your knee buckles, you are taking a chunk out of your knee cartilage. I'd say you probably have a torn acl.
I assume you are in Houston. Dr. Mark Provenzano, Orthopedic Sports Clinic http://www.orthopedicsports.com/ He is outstanding and helped me out after 10+ years of complete frustration with other doctors who would not or could not help me.
Well I just had surgery to repair a torn meniscus...went to the Richmond Bone and Joint Clinic, which is in the Mermorial Herman system. Saw Dr. Thomas Rivers. Must say after dealing with this thing for a year, it's great to finally have my knee back. And four weeks after surgery my knee is doing really well. Not dissapointed at all in the quality of care received.
go get some kind of movement/mechanic assessment by a good PT first. Not only they should they be able to narrow down, or even pinpoint, an injury, but also tell you if it was caused by bad mechanics. If you can't remember getting injured, then that's probably the case.
This is what I really need. Check my knee out first, then decide what to do next. (surgery, etc.) I just found out my company is gonna have a softball team, so if I need surgery I will just wait till after the season.
