Gee, I'm shocked. It would be sweet if the other 29 teams conspired to not take Lee off the Warriors' hands, but I know that's asking too much. At the very least, I hope his eventual new team demands one or two first rounders for doing Golden State a favor.
That was fast, lol! Makes sense though. Nobody really wants that contract, except for the fact that it is expiring. But what else can the Warriors add to sweeten the deal for someone?
The one sweet thing about GSW winning is they exposed Lee as someone who does no help you win a ring. He's negative value. Only fantasy league kids would suggest playing him on an actual title contender.
guess they are going to give up their 1st round pick (#30) with him or next yrs. teams will bite for sure and you get a large expiring for deadline
You're willing to give up a promising young player who has decent market value for an injury-prone, aging, overpaid non-factor?? Come on. I hope NOBODY takes on Lee's bloated contract for anything less than 2 first rounders. Golden State doesn't deserve any help.
Team will have a ton of cap space regardless...expiring's really have limited value this season. The Warriors are going to have a difficult time trading this dude unless they attach a 1st round pick ala Jeremy Lin...
Going to be tough to trade him without taking contracts back, but they likely weren't going to keep their first rounder anyway (to save salary).
The #30 pick is a horrible pick. guaranteed contract. Better off buying a 30s pick in the second round. That said, a team may want it. Warriors can't trade 2016 or 2018 firsts, I don't think, because they owe their 2017 first to the Jazz. That said, some team might might for sure. We've already seen the Pistons move contracts for Illyasova. Not sure if they could have done the same for Lee from a cap perspective... but that is part of what made the trade a bit perplexing for the Pistons from a timing perspective. Lee's shortcomings are now clear... but isn't he better than Illysova, and a great "fit" next to Drummond as well. In any case, the Warriors of course ideally want to find a situation like that. And some team will be interested. The Bobcats, or Kings or some silly situation like that.
What's wrong with Lee's contract? It is an expiring deal after next season. Won't be as hard to move as most of you guys are making it sound like.
