I thought this was usually the time when Hakeem comes in to work with everyone. Is he still a consultant for the Rockets or has he moved on?
Its day 3/4 let the man breef I'm sure he'll come around later, once they have implemented all the basics and the new guys get situated.
I don't think Hakeem can really take credit for the post game of DMo or Yao, can he? LOVE Hakeem - idolize Hakeem - but I would think some of his credibility as a coach would be hurt when he's saying Dwight will be MVP, etc. I don't think being the best at something makes you the best teacher of something. You don't need Einstein to teach you arithmetic.
I think Hakeem is more of a Mozart than Einstein. Or in today's terms, One Direction compiled into one person?
Probably on a yacht smoking the finest kush with Mia Khalifa while watching 94' 95' championship tapes. "You see that spin move b****? That was just one of many moves in my repertoire. I can still do all that ****". -The Dream
Don't think Hakeem really needs credit for anything. His accolades speak for themselves. Let's look at it this way...if you can learn one thing from one of the greatest of all times doesn't that make you better? You don't have to be Hakeem in the paint but if you learn a few things from him you're that much further ahead from the rest of the NBA.
Hakeem did help Dwight. Problem is that Dwight can't make free-throws so his post game is very limited since they just foul him when he gets an edge.
I thought I made it clear Hakeem is high on a pedestal in my book. That does not inherently make him the best coach of all time too. The fact that Dwight has the most celebrated pupil relationship with Hakeem is evidence of this IMO.
DMo had THE post game long before NBA. McHale and Hakeem might have helped a little to polish it, but it does piss me off when people give them all the credit. I made very similar comment a year or two ago on my old account, saying Hakeem is overrated as a coach and I got stoned to metaphorical death.
