Looks like O'Day will sign with Nationals as his wife works in Washington DC. Doing that they are going to be able to trade Papelbon or Storen.
No one in their right mind will take Papelbon. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/2RRwb5E-CyY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Somebody will take him, but his value isn't positive. Nats will eat almost all the money and get basically nothing back to move him. A lot of players didn't side with Papelbon, and nobody thinks it is a good idea to physically attack the league MVP.
You are wrong. A lot of players did side with Papelbon. There are numerous articles on it through a simple Google search. I agree that the Nats will end up eating a lot of his salary. That is part of why he is an attractive target, you can release him if he doesn't work out. Papelbon had been labeled a problem since he became a closer in Boston. Who said it was a good idea to attack Harper?
Yea I agree But the Yankees wouldnt move Miller for VV one for one And I get what some are saying about not overpaying just because you can But you can also lose guys like DDJ for nothing I'd be all in on VV plus another good prospect for Miller
So, you think a lot of players weren't on Harper's side? 95% of players don't do more than Harper did on that play. 99.9% never choke a teammate. There are plenty of guys that just don't like Bryce Harper, mostly players who aren't even playing anymore.
On the numerous articles, it appears that one article was written by a former player with anonymous quotes that was then repeated by numerous outlets and was either cited or heavily used without reference. The siding with Papelbon appears to have more to do with a lot of players wanting to choke Harper and probably does not accurately represent if these players actually want to play with Papelbon.
http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/trading-for-aroldis-chapman/ That puts you in the ballpark. And what should be immediately clear is that the Reds can’t expect to receive an elite prospect for Chapman alone. At least, they shouldn’t; you never know how another human will act. The Reds might be holding out hope, but you figure there are reasons why Chapman hasn’t been traded yet. No one has met the ask, not in the last month, and not around the last deadline. Basically, I think the Reds will get a little more than this article thinks Chapman's contract will get them, but the article is pretty close to how I would evaluate Chapman.
